I seem to recall that Lowlight did a review of an Elcan optic not too long ago (last 6 months or so), I was thinking it was a 1-4x. You might try searching for that post and see if there's some info in it that will be useful for your questions.

They're awesome IMO. Tons of info at the link below including links to Lowlight's two reviews. We have a few videos in there along with some tests on the range. Let us know if you have any questions:

I have a couple of them, including the 1-4x, 1.5-6x and fixed 4x... I really like them.

Thanks for the help guys it seems to be one of the sweetest toys out there. I would no doubt love to have one although it's currently a little out of my price range. Do any of you know if there anything in the market under $800 or so that would even compare?

Not the same, featuring a throw lever for power changes, most people use Aimpoints or get something like a SWFA SS 1-4x with a Cat Tail option to quickly change power. That or the Vortex PST 1-4x w/ cat tail
But nothing along the same lines.
