Has anybody got ther hands on the 1-8x elcan specter.......it's heavy as crap but the optics are supposed to be top notch. It ain't cheap though.....2k plus.

I'm thinking about putting one on my ar-10 and swapping the trijicon reflex II I've got on it so I can shoot further out.

Re: Elcan specter dr

What you describe is contradictory. The "DR" or "dual-range" in the name means the optic has two magnifications, while a 1-8x is a variable. So, are you asking about a 1x/8x SpecterDR? If so, I've not heard of it, only the 1x/4x and 1.5x/6x versions.

Re: Elcan specter dr

Like Jack, I've not seen or heard of the 1x/8x Specter DR sight. I don't see it on Elcan's website anywhere either.

I do have a 1x/4x Specter DR sight that I like quite a bit. Optical clarity is nice, with some slight distortion on the edges. The BDC seems to be about spot on with 5.56.

Re: Elcan specter dr

Sorry, I screwed my post up....I was referring to the 1x/6x elcandr. Runs over $2200 from what I have seen. I'll be shooting with a 7.62...

Anyone used one of these things on their rig yet?

Re: Elcan specter dr

I have 2 1.5X/6X elcans. One is in 556 and the other is 308. I like them and the glass is great. They seem to be bomb proof and the LR has two options for a dot or full reticle. If you have a need for quick change power then I say buy it. If not, plenty of good scopes out there that do close to the same thing.

Re: Elcan specter dr

Is there an adjustment for windage on these things? All I can see is the bottom screw for elevation adjustment? There has to be a windage adjustment somewhere....I just cant see it.

Re: Elcan specter dr

Yes, it is up front and you can't really adjust it on the fly like a windage knob it is flush adjustment that is locked in with a set screw.

Basically the scope is an external adjustment in terms of zeroing it, then you just use the reticle for holds.
