The guys from Long Range Only sent a survey out to all shooters regarding the equipment used. Once compiled, it will be made available.
I will say that a Ruger won the match. 2nd, 3rd and 4th were all shooting Vudoos. And pending sanctioning of the World Record distance of 395...that was shot with a Vudoo too.

I was talking to Paul at Vudoo about this. He said it required the first 3 rounds fired to connect on the 12” plate at each distance. I was surprised at the distance too at first , but then I remembered the wind out there and that kind of put things into perspective. I’m sure that record will be shattered soon but at least now there is a starting point recorded for us all to think about. I know I’m not the only one who has gotten consistent hits at much further distances using much lower quality.22s. But like I said , the wind and environmental conditions out there are tough, and three first shot hits in a row ain’t easy either!
Winner was shooting a Ruger Precision Rimfire, with an ER Shaw match barrel, and an SWFA 10X. I believe ammo was Eley Target.
Thanks 10. I knew there had to be some kind of qualifier to make it a record. The wind definitely plays a huge role for sure. I'd say there was some good shooting done there for sure. 300 is the most I've shot the rimfire to, seemed harder than shooting the creedmoor to 1000. I'll end up with a V-22 someday just have to stick with the vpt for awhile. Thanks again
Paul also told me there were shooters who were connecting out near 600 yards , but not on the first 3 shots fired therefore it wasn’t counted for a record.
Wow, I just sold my RPR on Tuesday too.
Oh well that was the same day I ordered my new Vudoo Apparition. I guess I'll just need to settle for 2nd best. ?

The funny thing is when the winner went to the prize table he took the $600 off gift certificate for a new Vudoo rifle, instead of one of the many high end scopes that were available on the table. I think next year he will be shooting a Vudoo!

He must have sent his back to Ruger 3 times and got the Holly Grail of Shaw barrels. My RPR is driving me crazy shooting CCI SV and SK Std+. Pretty sure they forgot to put the precision parts in mine. Hopefully Shaw will produce a .17HM2 barrel for it since my Apparition will be here before too long.
Dude my Vudoo got here last week and I’ve not touched another gun since it got here. Went out today and put 5 hits in in row on an 18” gong at 400 yards right out of the truck, no sighters, just dialed up and shot it. 100%!Thanks, I almost puked in my mouth a little.

18” threaded barrel. Currently using an Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x 56 BTR. I’ll put a NF 7-35 x 56 ATACR on it soon.

After 5 cz455s, 3 highly modified 10/22s, 1 KIDD Supergrade 10/22, a Remington 40XB, and 2 Anschutz match rifles I finally have a .22 that impresses me every time I shoot it........my Vudoo! It’s simply the best .22 I own hands down.
I feel your pain and feel fortunate that I didn't need to go down that long of a road. That is exactly why I have made my decision to go Vudoo. All I want is a "Precision 22" and inherent in that is the expectation of consistency.

The rifle never went back to Ruger, although it did shoot horribly out of the box. I fixed a bedding problem right before the match and I still wasn't sure it would shoot the day of the match. Had I known how much the bedding improved the accuracy before the match I'd have grabbed a different prize. I got the first ER Shaw match barrel they sent out the door. It is very well made! I can't wait to get a Vudoo put together, but now I'm going to have to keep the Ruger too since it shoots so well.

I contacted ER Shaw as I'm hoping they'll produce a .17HM2 barrel for the RPR. I had one of their .17HM2 barrels in a 10/22 conversion and it was laser accurate. In semi-auto it began going KaBoom with a clean chamber and action so I converted it back to .22lr. Definitely miss that cartridge for extermination purposes.
What type of bedding work did you do?
The V-block in my gun did not sit square to the action because it was riding high on the trigger frame. I shimmed it with .04" aluminum tape where it rides on the action which squared it up and it helped tighten the groups slight but I was still getting the typical 2 flyers out of a 5 shot group at 50 yds.
There's so many things I like about the design but I don't trust that composite chassis. With my Vudoo coming soon having the RPR in .17HM2 would be ideal for my needs.
I found that the rear of the action was only really touching on the trigger housing so I put a dab of steel putty in the pockets milled in the sides of the receiver where the little ears molded into the inside of the receiver channel in the stock should support the rear of the action. I suspect that variation in the thickness of the trigger housing where the rear action screw passes through is what is keeping many of these rifles from shooting well.
It seemed that the ammo of choice for most was Lapua Center-X. I settled on Eley Match partly because I didn't have time to order more of the Lapua to continue testing and I could buy the Eley locally.

Ruger has re-engineered the RPR stock, the person at Ruger who gave me the "intel" couldn't or wouldn't expand on the reason or changes in engineering.
Magazine and action fitment that effects function and accuracy would certainly justify re-engineering.
Have you heard any info pertaining to the re-engineered stock?
I had one of the very early RPR's and it was a 1.5moa gun no matter what I tried in the way of ammonition and mags. Too bad because I liked that little rifle. Sold it last week. Maybe if they ever get it to shoot I'll pick up another one in the future.
The match was held in Townsend, MT in July. It was hosted by Jeff and Daniel of LongRangeOnly fame. It was sanctioned by ELR Central as an official record setting event. I have heard that other people want to hold this type of match in other parts of the country. I assume it would take coordination with ELR Central and the real estate for hosting.
I was over at Broz's site over the weekend and saw the match results. I was suprised that a $450 rifle beat all the $4500 rifles. I knew there had to be one hell of a shooter behind the rifle.
