Engagement ranges in Afghanistan?

I'm going to guess he hung out at a COP all the time, went outside only on specific missions which involved looking for specific someones in villages (probably up north) and then went back to the COP to ocassionally get mortered and pot shotted from a few hundred yards because for some reason we liked to build them surrounded by overlooking fucking hills.

Lol.
That’s almost exactly what he said

Most engagement rings in Iraq were handed out at a range of under 24 inches. Though occasionally, brides-to-be were notified via e-mail or on Facetime, in which case the ranges could be 8-10,000 miles. I also understand that in certain FOB's, there were engagements that took place while in actual contact, but mainly involving 'Don't Ask Don't Tell" individuals or airmen.

When compared to engagement ranges in the PI or West Germany back in the '80s... ranges were generally similar. Though there were fewer requests for "PX Card" to accompany the engagement itself.

And we're off....

Cheers,

Sirhr

Also, time of flight needs to be considered. I've witnessed several engagements in the PI of less than 24 hour after arrival. Most resulted in multiple STDs.

Back to the OP , I wonder what engagement ranges Marine Special Forces ROTC have experience in ? Which also brings to mind Space Shuttle door gunners .
After all they tend to aim for Uranus . Your , you're, Ur . I get confused .
What you are saying is that it is time to bring up the spit-shined Velcro sneakers.

Very popular in “the teams.”

Hi,

So you have been a member since 2005...
So you have 2 post since being a member...
So your location says "Iraq"...

Reads like a grand-slam home-run......Please tell us you see the awkwardness of your post right?

Engagement ranges are always discussed in forms that are complex and complicated..it boils down to this:
Engagement ranges can and will only be the distance from the weapon to the intended target, anything more is a miss and anything less is a miss.

Sincerely,
Theis
Sorry, my bad about the current location. I joined up when I was in Iraq and left it there. Back in Australia for now. I read mostly through the posts because most questions have been answered so yes i dont post much.

Ok the reason i was asking about the engagement distances that were for snipers is because they take the lot and divide it by the number which just gives you the middle. What I wanted to look at was the percentage on a certain distance. Example.
100m - 3%
200m -5%
300m - 10%
400m - 8%
500m - 9%
600m - 11%
700m - 12%
And so on. And so on. This is what I was looking to get out of those distances to see where the shooting distances were most and least of the time. One vid I ran into on YOuTUbe the sniper said his first two kills were at 308 or something meters and they were running. I found it interesting that it was that close.

You could just contact your unit’s STA Platoon/SSP/Sniper Section (or better yet, the SS school house) and ask them. They might provide you actual information based on AARs for those AOs rather than asking on a random forum where dudes are just going to tell you what their best friend’s uncle who met a guy who stars in a TV show about “The Teams” said.

Are you saying you doubt the veracity of television?

Ever since those assholes cancelled the most accurate show out there? Yes.

Bring back Enlisted! lol

On a serious note, only hacks rely on television for their facts. Real men use the hit 1990 action/thriller Navy SEALs as their guiding light. #NothingOnStarlight
