Setting up a Remington 700, long action... Time to order a barrel
The matrix:
I am an old guy
I won't be competing
I'm on a fixed income. This is a "One Piece At A Time" project.
Optics will be comparable to the build ($, quality, used)
Chassis will be used, standard quality.
Weight - 16 lbs max weight with day optical sight, sling swivels, carrying strap, fully loaded magazine. Not climbing mountains with it.
Ammo = .300 Win Mag
Time table - Prefer an "off the shelf" unit. Gunsmith wait is a concern. Prefer to not die of old age while waiting on a Smith.
Accuracy - 12" circle at 1,000 yards
Recoil - My 300 Win Mag hunting rifles deliver more recoil than I care to deal with. Not wanting a brake.
Life of barrel - I'll never wear one out
Price wise I want to be midway between the cheapest barrel and the most expensive barrel... Average everything, if there is such a thing.
Suggestions ?
