Entry Level Precision Rifles

Have you considered going rimfire for your first rifle? I know it's not exactly "long range" but it can be a great way to develop fundamentals, and you can get good gear for the right price.

I have since reading your comment lol, I seen a Marlin 22 Mag for $150 and Nice Nikon, RedField Revenge and Leupold all for under 200$ at my local gun store this morning just to get me started. He also had a Remington 700 22-250 for 650$ with Nice Optic included.

It may make more sense because to be honest we don't have any large hills on the farm to even stop a .308 round neither 300 yard gun ranges within 2 hours where I am located. So maybe A 22 or 22-250 is better for the practicality of my situation and experience.

That Ruger Precision Rifle in 5.56 I linked in this thread is a hell of a deal for a beginner who doesn’t know what he wants. Rugers customer service is top notch and that model is being discontinued. If need be the resale value should be excellent in a few years. Top it with a scope and go shoot.

Im still considering it as well as a few others that people recommended , there is a lot more that goes into play than just buying a rifle and putting an optic on it, and I'm just now figuring this out surprisedly.

Thanks again for all the replies, A decision has been made....... I finally decided on the do-it-yourself (DIY) route because I was convinced it was the only way to end up with exactly the result I envisioned. I will be picking up a M40A1 stock this weekend from a family member of mine and take it from there. Im not in a rush to get the rifle finished I just want something that means a lot to me, I can keep for a long time, shoot 1 MOA@ 1000 yards...with much practice of course, and continue to upgrade/enhance over the next few years, and a custom built DIY rifle will best serve that purpose imo.

Thanks again!!

Ruger american predator or a Howa 1500 will be your best bet on a budget friendly rifle that can still manage to be relatively precise!

I completely agree. Its a sturdy basic rifle with all the basic essential features. Ive shot two and was pleasantly surprised both times. Both had low end optics on them, they were dialed in properly and shot very well for me at 300yards on my first time shooting them.
