Not to go off topic but I wouldnt buy from Botach unless you were in the L.A area with a LEO or military ID to pick up directly. They have horrible customer service. They never pick up the phones and if you buy something that isnt in stock it's really hard to get ahold of em to cancel or change an order.

It seems quite silly to debate two things which serve different purposes. One 200m and less, one 100m and up.

its not silly at all, they both have the same usable ranges honestly, just a different means on accomplishing it.

I have the EOTech and a TA33G-H Acog and I prefer the EOTech for 0-50 yards and the ACOG for 25-300 yards. The TA33 ACOGs are my favorite ACOGs and they are affordable.

Everyone's got their own anecdote for this choice. My experience is that if you're doing engagements 100 yards and under, the new Eotechs will serve you better. They're great for fast target acquisition. If you're doing most of the shooting over 100 yards, outdoors, then take the ACOG. I had my choice when I went downrange so I took both and tried both. I stuck with the ACOG. Always held its zero, didn't have to worry about batteries, etc. Both are solid optics.

The rig you need is: (this will not break the bank)

1.)used Aimpoint compM2 or ML2 I am betting you will never need NVD settings and you can probably find a decent one right here on the hide.

2.) cheap 3x mag found on ebay for under $50 im guessing glass quality and to hell and back reliability are not exactly going to be a sticking point on this rig

3.) spend the money on a Larue or similar swing out mount period

4.) get a matech BUIS almost like it was all meant to be together.

if you do some home work you might get all of this for $500-$600

I agree with this. Aimpoints are great optics with great battery life and tough as hell. Now that the m4s are out, the me2 can be had cheap. I have both and both are worth the money. I also agree it can all be had for under $600 with little effort.

I say acog, I've got an eotech and I like it I just haven't been impressed with it I've been impressed with an acog, then again if I was gonna do an acog I'd do a NF 1x4 instead
