I don't get it. Why choose the AX short action over the AT? Is it just because of the toolless stock? Mike said that was a reason but what about Frank? With the advent of the stock conversion for the AT would you still pick the short action AX?

Funny how Glocks are.

@Lowlight , you were talking about the Ax (I assume you mean the AX 308) being your chosen gun if poop hits the fan, you also talked a bit about the AXMC. I thought you were talking about the ability to change calibers quickly and being able to shoot 300 norma. I thought you were saying you could do that with your chosen rifle? You were talking about not liking the AXMC as much because it wasn't designed for smaller calibers like the AX308???? Looking for a little clarification?

Thank you

Alright guys y’all talked me into it. I’m going to shoot my first PRS style match on the 8th of June. Both my bosses, the one at work who thinks he’s my boss, and the woman who I sleep with for the last 32 years who is my boss ain’t real happy about it either! ???

I Think if you relisten to it you’ll make more sense of it. His pick is pretty clearly AX308 in 260 after listening to that whole part. MC talk was more just chatter about the platform still talking about its pros.

Lowlight definitely made it clear that he meant the short action AX, and that he didn’t necessarily support the idea of guys running short action calibers in the AXMC, unless it was a “I’m deploying overseas and need a ‘problem solver’.”

As far as converted AT vs AX308, I’m curious about his thoughts as well..and I own an AX lol. I guess you have more mounting options on the foreend than the AT, that might be it though.

Didn’t he mention something along the lines of it not being designed for the high pressure rounds even though it is capable of handling it? I took that to mean that it is safe to shoot the 6.5 Creedmoor out of the AXMC but the bolt design didn’t go through the same technical rigor, more of a backfit

It’s pretty much a large firing pin issue. I have one of the first 2014 year run AX308 that has large firing pin (like the AXMC) that mike was speaking of. It shoots my lupua 6.5cm brass but def not without primer cratering. I’m running a mellow load and I think anything too hot would be piercing primers. I don’t plan on doing any gamer calibers so it doesn’t bother me. Can always have a qualified smith bush your bolt too.
