You seem to be relatively knowledgeable on tuners. I slapped a V2 on the Vudoo today, 22" MTU. Question, if I tuned my system today in 40 deg temps, ammo ambient, when I shoot in 75 deg temps in 4 months, will my settings remain the same?
I'm guessing no, but minor adjustments.
It won't be at the optimal setting but it will be better then no tuner. I generally have just left them alone out of laziness.
Everything I have read. Debating buying one is it helps but big temp swings will change the tune

I'm no salesman for anyone, but I buy cases of untested Center X, it all shoots good, most of it not great. I thought a tuner would turn pretty good ammo into better ammo, and what I saw today, I am going to order 3 more of these things.
Yeah. I was debating the tuner and lot testing or just do the tuner looks like tuner can fix/over come not ideal loads on rimfire
If you are able to do both, win win. As fast as good target ammo sells, I don't know how I could actually get a few boxes to test and expect the place have any remaining inventory.

I tested and my vudoo likes center x. Which we all know is hard to get. I buy what I can. Never same lot. Lol
Just have to save up, suck it up, send your rifle to Lapua and get it tested. Buy a case, and be good for 1 year. Rinse and repeat the next year.
Changes in temperature and ammo speed can effect your tune but if your barrel is truly in tune these changes will only have a small effect on your original tune. Maby a click or two in or out. Like the other replies, I don't bother.

I agree if you are at the tuner setting that rifle/barrel is needed to be at you can shoot across a wide range of conditions. IME heat is the hardest to deal with on ammo and tuner settings, but if it is where needs to be you still do not have to make any adjustments.
I shot this target this past Sunday in 39-degree temperatures with a new lot of CX that this rifle had never shot before. tuner has been at the setting of 90 for at least the last 6 years. same rifle in 100-degree temperatures shot the other target with a different lot of CX at least a 60-degree difference in temperatures and no adjustment made to tuner. so yes, it is achievable.

Mark sounds like you are figuring things out with this tuner. FYI tuning in cooler-colder temperatures IMO is better to do, since powder burn rate will be slower but also more controlled versus warmer-hotter temperatures where heat from the barrel can also effect burn rate.

Since I mainly shoot at 50yds. I found I can just hold a little lower in higher temperatures. I shoot the RBA target for club matches and ARA for sanctioned, so my holds are very close for both targets.
But no, I do not adjust the scope. since I already have it tuned for cooler-colder temperatures, and tuning is about bullet exit timing with the bullet exit at the highest peak of barrel movement when burn rate is the slowest as temperatures go up POI will follow but not where I need to adjust the scope. with known good lots I see maybe a bullet to a bullet and a half higher POI.
These targets are a good example of what I am saying target on the left was shot in February (250-19X) of last year and the right August (250-21X) of last year where temperatures were vastly different. if you look at the horizontal height for each shot on both targets and they were shot with the same lot of CX if you drew a line across the shots would all, be intersected by the line. all I did was adjust POA lower for the August target.

Would you guys recommend the original or the V2? I like the V2 for the adjustment system, but like the additional weight of the original due to balance. Not sure if the lighter weight of the V2 helps more or less.

Your barrel has to tell you how much weight it needs to be tuned. Another shooter can't unless he has an identical setup. Same profile, same diameter, same length barrel as yours. Then he can probably get you close but then you have to take his word that his barrel is truly in tune. Your best bet is to call the tuner maker. Give him your barrel specs and go with his recommendations.
You're dead on target!!! To tune a barrel the adjustable weight must be forward of the crown.
