Fished out of Walnut Creek access a couple of days ago and limited out on perch in a couple of hours. Perch seemed to in-between 38-42 feet. After that we picked up a few walleye trolling with reef runners running between 50 and 60 feet. Not any luck with crawler harnesses.

Re: Erie PA Perch

Never did catch a walleye, although I will change that one of these days. Plenty of perch in my lifetime too. Nice catch! the only kind of hook & line I do is with a spinning rod. Do you use that too?

Re: Erie PA Perch

We were using spinning & baitcasting set-ups and just dropping a 1 oz sinker over the side of the boat with 2 snelled hooks attached to the line just above the sinker. Shiners for bait. We were yanking in lots of doubles. As soon as the sinker hit bottom they would bite.

For the walleye we used all baitcasting reels with line counters. 2 rods were on the down riggers and then 3 rods off each side of the boat with planing boards.

Re: Erie PA Perch

Nice, you guys quite a setup. It's usually just me and I take my St Croix Eyecon walleye/bass/pike rig and my St Croix triumph panfish setup.

I haven't baitfished since I was very young back at the Jersey shore where I grew up. Used to get blues and weakfish there. Did catch a sea trout (weakfish) last month back up in Cape May. They're fighters man.
