Essential addons for Rem 700

So I have a about 800 bucks burning a hole in my pocket and I wanted to do something fun with it. I was debating picking up a DBM for my Remington 700 Target Tactical but I am trying to justify the 400 bucks for the extra 6 rounds since the internal one is fine. Another add on I was looking at was the Accu-shot monopod. I have a Leopold scope and rings and a Harris bipod so I am set there.


I was also looking for a good sidearm I really like the Springfield Armory XD line but that just means more cash when I go shoot since now I am buying ammo for both the rifle and the handgun.

Any ideas on what else I can pick up or add to the rifle?

are you happy with the current stock?? if not, there's some nice stocks out there that you can get with a dbm for $800

Do you reload? I would look into that if you shoot enough to justify it. I prefer a rear bag over a monopod. Other options

you can get a XD and ammo for it or you can buy my remington 1100 Tac 4. Or buy a bunch of 308 ammo.

Ditto about the trigger and reloading, and save the DBM for later.

By the way, the CDI DBM won't cost you $400 even with stock inlet and install.

i ordered a timney trigger and it will be here monday hopefully. Its the #511 for a left hand remington 700 and i had timney set it at 2 pounds. So yes timneys are in the top 5 or so. The quality and so forth are very good on them, thats why i bought it. This will be my first custom trigger and from what ive heard i wont be disapointed and neither will anyone that has bought a timney trigger.

since you have the money try the cg jackson you won't regret it. or sell your current optic and put all the money towards a new optic. that would probably be your best use.

Well, the best bang for the buck scope with repeatable turrets, good optics and decent reliability would be on of the Sightrons. Some even come with "tacti-cool" recticules. At a decent price too. Shop around a bit.

If that doesn't take all your cash, take a look at the new Lee Breech Lock press, pick up some Redding dies, a Lee priming tool, any old chamfering tool, a couple bags of Winchester brass (that sloppy Remington factory chamber won't be able to tell it's not Lapua), a decent scale, a decent powder measure, a powder trickler (the single biggest reason I went to an RCBS Chargemaster powder dispenser), a bunch of Federal or CCI primers, a couple boxes of Berger 155.5 Fullbores, a couple of pounds of RL-15 and start rolling your own.

Of course, once you shoot the factory barrel out, you can mount up a good barrel with a decent chamber. And get a quality skim bed done if you plan on keeping that fugly stock.

Come to think of it, the first thing you do is get a can of paint and get rid of the puke green color the stock comes in. Looks like something that came out of a bullfrogs ass end.

I am narrowing it down to a trigger -rifle basix trigger more than likely a L-1 K unless Mr. Roscoe or anyone else recommends something different.

A Accu-Shot to test it out since I always seem to forget my sand bags.

and some reloading gear.

Check out a jewel hvr trigger. In my personal opinion they are top of the line.

Armstech makes a mag extender IIRC. Adds a couple rounds. I ahve one on a LTR.

An AICS will need to be dremeled for a Jewell trigger. It isn't too bad to do with any type of coordination at all.

Worth every second of effort though.

I just PM'd you about this, but then did a little searching and found a post where Bauer Arms stated that the newer AICS's have more clearance and can accept Jewell triggers. see here.
