2) Replace the bolt of an early AT with the LFP if you’ll be shooting small primer calibers
3) Send it off to have the bolt face opened up for magnum short action calibers like 300WSM

It is perfect in the 2015 (SFP) actionhowever, it sticks rather hard in my 2014 (LFP) action.

When I put the new firing pin assembly into the 2015 body and try that in the 2014 action it is almost fine with just a tiny bit of resistance.

It binds about 3/4” from going all the way in. It’s not impossible to finish, however, it’s definitely not smooth like the bolts that came with the rifles.

I guess I’ll see what AINA says and see if they’ll swap out the firing pin assembly for me.

AINA wants the 2014 rifle and the extra bolt assemblies back to look at them.

I think I'll just return the bolt assembly that's tight to EuroOptic as I have no interest in shipping the rifle across the country (after trying to find a box as I don't have one for this rifle) as well as a perfectly functional bolt when all I need is to swap out the firing pin assembly as that's the issue.

I have a 2015 AX that I bought a small FP bolt for and under the plunger for the ejector was plugged full of shit so it wouldn't move. I'm hoping this one isn't as bad.

I guess I haven't done that but the rifle only has 500rds on it. I suppose that could be my next step.

Here's what I've tried as I have 4 x AI Short Action bolts now:
Both bolts work perfectly in the 2015 rifle with no binding or hiccups of any kind.

The 2014 is a different story though as while 1 of the new bolts works fine the other binds when it’s ~3/4” from being fully inserted. It’s not that it won’t go at all but it requires quite a bit more force than it really should compared to the bolts that came with either rifle.

I took the firing pin assemblies out of both new bolts and tested the bolt bodies by themselves in both rifles and there wasn’t any binding.

I then swapped the firing pin assemblies between the bolt bodies and again both are fine in the 2015, however, a change is that now they both work in the 2014 but each has a small amount of drag in the same place as before.

If I swap the firing pin assemblies back to where the one bolt had a lot of drag, run it forward, and set the safety to the middle position the drag goes away in the 2014 and all is well in the 2015 as well.

The shroud itself doesn’t appear to be dragging on anything.

Could you let me know how yours is when you get a chance to try it out and what year your rifle is?

EuroOptic said it's a warranty issue so my only option is to send the complete rifle and both extra bolts into AINA if I want to get it looked at it appears. They can't send out a replacement firing shroud/pin assembly by itself and it didn't sound like I could return the complete bolt assembly either.

I think I'll just mark it as suspect and throw it in the back of the safe for now and ponder what I want to do with it as I really don't want to ship the rifle off just because of a bad firing pin assembly.

I wouldn't be afraid to send a rifle to AINA. I had to send one it and it was painless. They sent me a label and ordered a pickup. I sent my other bolt body back to Milehighshooting when the ejector needed cleaned out.

I have a 2015 AX with a LFP bolt and a SFP bolt and 2022 ATX. All of those bolts interchange just fine.

It functions just fine in both my rifles. The bolt in my 2015 is noticeably lighter and smoother. But also is broke in.

Looks like euro has more in stock. So maybe they can exchange the whole bolt.

I did call EuroOptic aa couple hours ago when I saw they had more and was told by the person that they have to okay the exchange with the manager who is gone.l so it’d be tomorrow before that could happen.

He said he’d hold one for me, however, the inventory level never changed from before I called until just a few minutes ago so that’s a bit concerning.

I think it’s just a tolerance stacking issue as I got 2 of them and 1 of them works fine in my 2014 rifle while both work fine in my 2015 rifle. If I swap firing pin assemblies around both of them work in both rifles.

Euro Optic is taking back my bolt assembly that binds in my 2014 AT and it appears they'll be sending it back to the "vendor" which I'm guessing is AINA.

Hopefully the replacement I'm getting tomorrow works correctly.

I just tested mine again between my 2014 and 2022. They were exactly the same. Headspace the same, everything. No binding and I had to check which bolt I put back in the correct gun as they were that similar.

Only difference is the AT has a lighter lift with both bolts. But that’s just broken in I assume. The ATX bolt still has the finish on the bolt where the AT is wore and smoothed out from years of use

I have 2 of the models you ordered coming as well. I’ll check both in both guns

Hmmm...that's interesting...in a bad way.

My replacement bolt has shipped so I should have it tomorrow to test. I'm really hoping it works so that I don't have to send another one back.

I was going to buy another one just because they're available, however, I think I'll pass. If the replacement has issues I'll just send it back for a refund.

It seems that old AI may be best AI which is yet another reason why I don't want to send my rifle to AINA and risk it being lost/stolen/damaged.

On a side note I noticed that the 2014 and 2015 bolt shrouds are machined on the bottom (they're smoother and you can see tiny machining marks from an end mill) while the new bolt shrouds aren't. I doubt it matters but it was just something I noticed.

Verdict is in on mine

2022 ATX:

Both bolts work flawlessly. Headspace exactly the same as my factory bolt off my Mandella Customs 260 Hawk Hill barrel

2014 AT:

Both bolts have a slightly tighter headspace in the gun. Running a factory LW 308 barrel. The bolt closes on a go gauge with slight effort. Zero issue closing on a factory Lapua virgin piece of brass

Very Very satisfied and certainly would recommend picking on up from Euro if you want one. As they aren’t easy to find or at least haven’t been

I did find one bolt was completely effortless where the other has the same issue as mentioned above with resistance when almost closed. The pic below shows where the shroud makes very slight contact with the tang of the action. This is 100% where it’s contacting and the pic shows exactly where. A drop of oil on this area and the resistance goes away completely. When you remove the oil you feel it slight rub again. This is absolutely not an issue and definitely where the cause is

Both were dry fired many times and caused no issues with the safety or trigger. These bolts work exactly as they should in my guns
