It is interesting how much disdain there is for law enforcement and the military (National Guard) on here... many are members here, your neighbors, your community members, fellow conservatives, and associates. In days since gone, we lived in a society that understood and supported Law Enforcement Officers and the National Guard for what they were - a safety net to those that could not or would not protect themselves. An individual that would willingly lay down their life to protect the community they serve.
I certainly understand the dislike for some cops, but I believe we need to question the entire structure... Why do law enforcement officers no longer (or rarely) come from a military background? Why have the caliber of officers declined? Why, in the late 90's, did hundreds of applicants come out for a listing of three positions and now there are hundreds of vacancies in each state across the country? What has changed in the hiring, employment, and retention?
