And, here's a quick test I did testing the edges of laser, plasma, and waterjet cut AR500. Just filmed another video the other evening I'll get up soon. Thanks for looking!

I just ordered a throw lever from you to test it out. I wasn't really in the market for steel targets, but while browsing through your wares, your KYL's steel target setup is a heck of a deal. So, I unfortunately for my wallet, made a second purchase that was more expensive than the first. I'm really interested in testing it out and seeing how well it will hold up. (Really need some reviews on your gear! I would of been sold faster had there been some quality reviews!)

Reviews are the hardest thing to get folks to leave :(

I can tell you there isn't better quality steel out there! Certified AR500 is certified AR500, and the only way to improve durability beyond that is the cut method. We waterjet cut. After getting to the point where we can order a significant quantity, my only explanation for the price of laser and plasma cut targets is folks are running pretty big margins.

At 100 yards you might get small dimples, it's hard to say for sure. Beyond that you should be good to go indefinitely!

For example, 223 55gr FMJ, probably the most standard round out there will DEFINITELY leave marks at 100. Now they aren't huge, deep, etc...but they are there. About 2750fps impact is the gold standard for true AR500.

I don't know jack about MKM, but I do know a little about steel and steel targets. Before I retired, I literally made tons upon tons of steel targets from Hardox/SSAB steel. Most of the steel I used was AR450 that fell in or close to the upper limits, i.e., overlapped the lower limits of AR500. My targets were used exclusively for use with pistol at USPSA clubs. The last batch of targets I cut before retiring weighed 27 tons including the drop. BTW, the OEM supplier for a lot of steel providers is SSAB.

I used a plasma table because that is what I had available. I learned about targets through my own mistakes and research. First off, any target cut with plasma or mechanized flame will have a heat affected area along the edges. Any target that has welded attachments will have a heat affected area. Any target that can not or is not reversed periodically will eventually cup. Waterjet cut AR500 with bolt on attachments and the ability to reverse the target is as good as it gets. I would be comfortable giving MKM a thumbs up without even seeing the target.

Guys, first thanks for the orders! Second, please let me know how you like them. MKM as a whole tries to respond to consumer opinions/suggestions, and constantly improve things.

For steel targets, there's not much to improve with where we're at durability-wise. But I'm always open to how a mounting solution could be done better, targets you wish someone offered, etc.

We had a chance to use MKM targets in a big match this past Summer, 114 shooters pounded these targets over the course of two days, and after all the paint was knocked off, the steel was still like new. Tyler makes great targets.
