Okay so I've had mine for a number of weeks- It seems the eye box on this scope is horribly small at any sort of reasonable magnification. I was running on 15x the last time out shooting and getting into that tight eye-box was a royal PITA. Anyone else having this problem? I've never heard of a defect in a scope causing this so I'm assuming it's not a problem with my scope.

Not sure how long I'll keep this thing; it takes some of the joy out of shooting for me.

Re: Eye box on Bushnell DMR

Like most scopes it is fairly critical on high magnification, however I have not noticed it to be any more demanding than other scopes of the same power.

Make sure you setup the rifle correctly (including eye relief) and you are getting your proper cheek weld each time.

Hmmm interesting....

It's not the first higher mag scope I've owned. Just seems like my NF has a much more forgiving eye box 15x vs 15x. I like it otherwise- works great, clear picture, great reticle.

Re: Eye box on Bushnell DMR

I have been using one on my coyote rifle, and practice rifle since the group buy scopes came out. It has seen extensive use in numerous positions and I don't find it to be objectionable at all.
Granted, I don't turn it up to 20 very ofter, most of the time it is in the 14-18 range and I have not had any issues quickly acquiring a clear/full sight picture. I use it in the 10-12 range at night and again don't have complaints.
As Scott pointed out, you do need to be centered when conditions are difficult, otherwise you get CA, but I haven't missed anything due to the color issues..and it is another reminder to be centered in the scope.

Re: Eye box on Bushnell DMR

Maybe I just need to work on my positioning behind the glass some more. Unlike my 3-12 bushy, I am having a difficult time getting the scope mounted to get the correct eye relief on my 700 5R. Main issue at work I believe is the stock; it works fine for im on the .223 w/3-12, but on the .308 w/DMR, it's been a bit more difficult. I knew that was a factor already, but I also thought maybe the scope itself was coming into play as well. Sounds like from everyone else's experience it might be entirely in the difficulty of getting positioned on the stock. I need a Manners T2A!

This is actually a very good point. Part of my education about position behind the rifle was helped out by getting a scope with a fussy eyebox. I then realized that my cheekweld had always been low on the centerline of the scope, the more forgiving scope just didn't make it obvious. My shooting consistency improved when I raised the comb so I was centered behind the scope.

It's also difficult to get the scope positioned well for me as a result of the proportions of the scope and it's various parts- there just isn't a ton of room in the tube to get it moved far enough forward for my large frame. The LOP on the stock just does not seem to work well with this scope, and the required height off the centerline deff requires a cheek pad of some sorts (stock-pack or good old-fashioned sleeping pad). I just need a good stock I can adjust to make this work.

Oh if only I planted that money tree last year....

Re: Eye box on Bushnell DMR

I have been using a 3.5-21x50mm DMR and it has been working great. The Eye Box and the Eye Relief is good better than some other high-end scopes. As for glass they do not have the best glass but it is very good.

You may what to try push the scope as far forward as you can getting the most eye relief at the highest power 21x. This tends to help with the eye-box.

Yeah that is one of the main issues right now I believe- I'm 6'4" and still running the factory HS stocks on my 5R's... The seekins rings I picked up for this scope are the 6/4 rings, so the front ring is a bit thicker; it's about as far forward as I can get it really. Maybe I'm batty, but it seems like that ocular housing is abnormally long? I haven't compaired it to anything really, but that's my observation. I should put it next to my NSX and see.
