Rifle Scopes Eye Relief concern

Hey Everyone,
I recently purchased a Vortex Crossfire scope from SWFA. (Recommended from this forum). The scope is 6-24x50AO. The problem is that I have to practically put my nose on the scope to get a clear view from the scope. I understand that higher zoom and field of view scopes decrease eye relief however this does not feel right. Adjusting the eye relief grants me no extra room. Any help on how to fix this problem would be appreciated. Thanks Fred

You can adjust eye relief?

Is this a problem at all magnifications, or just at the higher end? Is this only a problem from the prone position, or from all positions?

And yes, higher magnification and a wide field of view can come at the price of lower eye relief. There are specialty rings that allow you to mount the scope farther forward, or mounts designed primarily for AR's, such as the Burris PEPR mount, that are designed to mount scopes farther forward.

How does the rifle fit you? Is the length of pull comfortable or a little short? A thicker recoil pad will increase your length of pull, but also move the scope forward (well, it'll pretty much move everything forward).

What type of gun do you have it mounted on and how is it mounted?

I have the same scope mount in a RRA one piece mount on an AR and I haven't had any problems yet with the eye relief.

I have a bushmaster varminter. The scope is mounted on 1in vortex rings mounted on 1/2in yhm risers. I dont believe the mounting is the problem. I have to move closer to the scope due to get the full view of the reticle. If I sit back off the scope 2-3 inches, I will see mostly shadows in the lens. I tried to move the scope forward but had to adjust my shooting position closer. Recoil is not a problem with the .223, I am just uncomfortable with my eye that close to the scope.

When I spoke of adjusting the eye relief, I was talking about adjusting the eyepiece distance.

According to SWFA it should have 3.3-3.1 inches of eye relief.. if it dosent have that id send it in...

by chance do you wear glasses or something?

deffinatly dont shoot the rifle with your nose touching the scope.. ive been bit by a .223 scope...even that mild recoil messed my face up... although that rifle weighs 5lbs...
