I'm going to start shooting F/TR this year, and would like to know of any clubs that hold matches in the above are. I'm in upstate SC, so parts of GA and NC are a bit of a haul.

I'm aware of Catawba Valley Gun club in Conover, NC and plan on shooting my 1st match there in April. I also know about NSSC at Butner, and really hope to get there this year.

Are there any other clubs/Matches in the area I should check out? I'm having a hard time finding places to compete. Perhaps I don't know where to look?

I'm going at this alone, as I have no friends that shoot so I'm a little anxious/intimidated, and don't really have a clue about what to expect. However, if 12 years of shooting has taught me anything, it's that most shooters are friendly and don't mind passing on advice and knowledge, so I'm hoping I don't make a complete fool of myself those 1st few times...

Any help you guys could offer will be greatly appreciated, Casey

Also, if anyone in my area (upstate SC) shoots F class and wants to carpool I have gas money and don't talk too much.

You may want to check out Oak Ridge, TN and Camp Lejune, NC (Coastal Carolina Rifle Club). That said, Butner will consistenly have the toughest competion you can find on the east coast for F-tr.

Thanks for the heads up. I figured Butner would be tough, but I know I'm not going to go up there and win anytime soon. I think tough competition is what makes us better at what we do, plus I think it is gonna be a blast!

Well better late than never...lol I guarantee you if you go to Camp Butner and tell the Match director that you are new to the sport. You will be put into good hands. I myself walked on to the 1000yd line not knowing a soul or thing about Fclass. All I knew was I wanted to shoot at 1000yds. Well lets just say my first day at Camp Butner cost me a lot of money the past few years! But I would spend every dime all over again! You want be disappointed attending matches at Camp Butner! http://www.northstateshootingclub.com/newindex.htm

Thanks, Deadlyswift! I think myself and 2 other guys are going to go to Butner on the 21st of April, and to catawba Valley on the 27th. I've just about up wrapped load development, but I only have 200 yards to shoot so I hope they perform ok at 1k. I'm shooting low 2's at 100 and 6's at 200 at 2750 fps with a 178 A-Max, so it should get down range ok. I'm very excited about competing, testing my loads, and testing myself!

I'm in the same boat. I shot BR for years with a 6BR , PPC and a straight 6mm Rem, and when I could shoot same holes at 300 went to Butner, and found out I had a serious case of (Need to get my arse off the bench syndrome). Those guys made me look like a rookie, and I have won a cpl egg shoots, and finished top 5 several times at 500yd shoots. Sooo I ordered a 20" 5R, a SPS 243, and Jon Beanland is finishing up my 260 build pretty soon. I'm looking for some gun nutz like myself to actually go shoot instead of having guns built, and telling what groups they shoot at 100,lol. I sent a PM and would love to tag along, (as most of my friends just buy 338's and 50 cals, and let em sit) Just PM me, I'm in Western NC, and have been shooting 600-1K for the last few months, but just for giggles. BR is a whole different ball game than F class which I know nothing about, but willing to take some weekends to find out. Just shoot me a PM. Thanks
