Pull a bullet and weigh the charge. You can give Hornady a call and see if they will give you the info. They are pretty good like that most of the time.

The TAP and 168 AMAX match ammo are loaded to the same velocity spec. The 168 AMAX match load is very accurate in my .308. I've heard the TAP uses a powder with less flash but not 100% on that. Unless you need to have TAP I would give the 168 AMAX load a try. </div></div>

I pulled it apart and it looks like 42 grains (average) of Benchmark.

168 TAP uses 44.4 grains (average) of Varget, not 44.0 as was stated in another post. 44 is their book max. They won't tell you to exceed their book max even though their own load does. </div></div>

The reason why I quoted 44 grains of Varget for the 168 TAP.....was because I was given this exact load data by a Hornady Tech Rep. I will admit that I've taken apart several different boxes of factory loaded 168 TAP & weighed the powder of each case. Most were close to 44 grains....but they were all a little different.

Re: factory hornady TAP ammo ?'s

I figured that.

It's just funny that their manual max is 44 grains but their ammo has 44.4 grains in it and my rifle needs 45 grains to shoot the same in fireformed brass.
