Factory rifle for 300wm

For factory rifles at popular prices, I like Tikka first, Bergara second and Savage third.

Tikka, as nobody seems to ever have a bad word, and their actions are used on other chassis around the world. Bergara, because they make good stuff. Their barrels are close to match quality, and their actions seem at least average. Savage because my first tactical long range rifle was a Savage and it does not get the respect it deserves. Bolt is sloppy in the action, but it works, and is a decent shooter. And, it is .300 WM.

Could go Tikka and swap out the bottom metal for this one for OAL of 3.5"+

"Our innovative, patent-pending nEXTgen AICS Long Action Bottom Metal is designed as a drop-in OEM replacement DBM to fit factory stocks (requires only minimal modification of factory stock)"

I have a Kimber 8400 Sonora in 300 WM that is hands down the best shooter I have ever shot. The gun is a bit heavy for a back pack rifle but it will shoot any bullet from 125 gr to 225 sub moa. If they still made them it would be worth a look. I cannot say how it compares to the 8400 standard though.

I converted my Tikka 300 WM to take 3.715” AICS mags. I loaded 200 grain ELDXs at 3.555” no problem. My barrel is only a 1:11 twist though. I got tired of playing that game, so I switched it to a 300 WSM. To get it to take the AICS mags I had to machine down the front of the trigger and cut of part of the top of the magazine to fit it
