I'm wondering what a fair price for a Finnish Valmet Mosin Nagant barrel would be in great condition? I found a few on ebay, but the price seems kind of high. Wasn't sure if the price was worth it. Are they that much more accurate than the russian barrels? Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you talking about a VKT rifle, or just the barrel? Also, what rifle? M91, 91/30, or M39?

Re: Fair price for a Finnish Valmet MN Barrel?

Just the barrel. I have a 1938 Tula 91/30 that I was thinking of upgrading. It's already been slightly "bubbaized" with an ATI bolt handle and scope mount by a previous owner, Wish it was all original, as it's matching #'s. It is import marked, but no electropencil markings or overstamps, so I think it hasnt been rearsenaled. Shoots great, but I've heard that the VKT barrels are more accurate.

I assume you're talking about a barreled action and not just a barrel, right?

A barrel swap isn't an easy thing with any rifle (other than a Savage :)), certainly not with a Mosin...

I've looked for the same thing, built a couple of rifles off very good 91/30's, but yes- I too would expect that the action of a Fin rifle in excellent condition would make a more accurate sporter.

Nope, just a barrel. I'm aware of the barrel swap process, I've built a few mausers. I'd love to find a finn barreled action or complete rifle for a decent price, all I've been able to find are a few barrels on ebay.

Just a barrel swap is crazy talk if you ask me . Maybe the hardest barrel on the planet to pop . And since I just sold a complete m91 Sako stamped barreled action on a gun forum 2 days ago for 100$ I'd say it's even more nutty . To each their own .
