Re: Falcon Menace 4-14x44
M82... I started by buying some Barska scopes, then picked up an SWFA 10x. Man, what a difference! Then I went to a few competitions and looked thru S&B's, NF, etc.. Picked up a Millett LRS and it was, again, a step up in features (glass was comparable to SWFA). Then I decided to take the plunge in a more "high end" piece of glass and ended up with an IOR.... again... what a difference!
Not wanting to drop a ton of money into a scope for my SPR AR15 project, I picked up a Falcon 4-14 mil/mil and some ARMS #22's. I can say that the reticle is good, the clarity is on par with Vortex, Bushnell Elite, etc... but the thing that drives me crazy is the knobs. Most scopes I have had give a good, tactile feed back. The Falcon is just mushy. Don't get me wrong, you can hear the click, but there is no notch where you know you are on the hash mark.
I would take a look at:
SWFA 10x ($299):

Vortex Viper HS 5-15 mil/mil (on sale $100 off, now $399):

and of course, the Falcon from SWFA.
All 3 are good in their own rights. SWFA probably has the best glass, Vortex is higher end all the way around, and Falcon is great bang for the buck.
But, the best thing is to look thru them. If there is a long range meet or range somewhere you can get hand on some scopes, it would be ideal... but I know how hard that can be. This is all just my $.02, but hope it helps.
