Hunting & Fishing Favorite .22LR hunting load.

Hey ya'll. Ran a search and couldn't find a thread on this topic.

Was just struck by how stinkin' many rimmy hunting loads are on the market right now! Everything from Aguila 60g SSS's to 30g SuperMaximums @ 1750fps...Velocitors, Stingers, Mini-Mags...the list goes on for miles in either direction.

Amidst all of these offerings, what have you all found to be the best balance of power and accuracy? Do all high/hyper velocity rounds kill about the same, so just find the one that shoots most accurately? What advice would you give?

Right now, I'm shooting CCI Velocitors and loving them. 8 (?) groundhog kills so far this season from ranges of 5-105 yards with devastating results in each case.

But...is are some of the best? What other loads would you recommend a guy try as he searched for The hunting load for his rifle?

I'm sure there are other newbies out there that could benefit from this as well.

I would just go out and buy as many different 50 round boxes as you can find and test them. Go with what shoots best.

I use Remmy Golden Bullet bulk pack ammo for critters. HVHP Blammo stuff. Accurized 10/22 essentially swiss cheeses 'em.

I just use whatever shoots the best, the light fast "velocitor" or "Stinger" ammo doesn't seem to do any better or worse on a g'hog than the cheap Remington or Winchester stuff. I generally try to shoot them in the head anyway.

For very quiet applications, the 22 super colibri stuff is great, however it's severely limited on power (1/2 weight bullets at half the speed is 1/8th the energy) so I always aim for the head and keep the shots very short for them.

I have always used the CCI Mini Mags. They have always been accurate and pack a punch. My best shot ever with these was an open sighted 120 yard shot on a crow sitting on a power line with a really old, very accurate single shot. The Mini Mags have never let me down and I have been using them for over 15 years.
