Considering getting one of the new Tikka T3X ace 223 rifles. May order a 223 wylde barrel for it to be able to shoot the AAC 77 OTM but may also yolo the 556 in 223 Rem. Is it going to explode?

The testing I have done on the AAC 77 OTM has turned out better than I hoped....sub MOA when using a decent barrel.

I have no issues with black hills 556 tmk in my Tikka 223 trainer

I’m not knocking its accuracy, it’s the reports of blown primers, split cases, etc.

I would give it a try, if the issue as wide spread as you say they might be, there would be a recall. One person with a bad rifle pops a primer and by the time it gets here it is 1 in 5 will pop primers, blow up and maybe cause global warming.

I am not saying it's widespread but it's def more than the norm you see people posting about.

Shoot a BR or BRA on a mild load. 3-4k barrel life is not unheard of. You really arent saving that much money unless you use crappy components which end up with crappy results.

I have a .223 trainer and a dillion 750 setup to churn out ammo for it. It hardly gets used.

Might as well just buy the PSA AAC ammo to shoot at that point.

308 is the best training round. If you can manage that 308 recoil, 6 GT/Dasher/etc. or 6.5 CM is a cake walk after.

Unless your fundamentals and shot process are perfect, and the very vast majority of shooters aren't,I don't think 308 is a good idea. It's only going to beat up the shooter, induce flinch and instill more bad habits. That's going to be counter productive to learning.

Lots and lots of clean reps with something that is economical and can be shot all day without fatigue would be much better short and long term. It's much easier to translate to heavy recoiling guns when your fundamentals are rock solid too.
