Though I tend to be more optimistic that we will work our way out of this without another 1861 - 1865 kerfuffle. The lesson from that one is that they should have exterminated Southern Democrats at the end. Or at least their ideology. Because without them, we'd have had no failed reconstruction, no rise of the segregation movement... far faster integration of freed populations... and no 'hard landing' under Lyndon Johnson and his moron disciples. That hard landing... was the civil rights MESS that exploded in the '60s. It should never have happened. Imagine where we'd have been today if the South's return into the Union had been properly managed...
Heard a great line in a lecture I was listening to yesterday.... "The Klan and the Redshirts were the paramilitary wing of the post-war Democratic Party."
Admittedly, there were other factors. The North's citizens had no interest in competing for jobs against low-wage black labor.... And racism was endemic across the country, even among those who wanted to abolish the slave system. It would not have been easy. But the Southern Democrats return to power and re-enslavement of freed blacks under poll taxes, share cropping, and sheer terror.... got us to where we are today...
And that s** persisted until Lyndon Johnson.... Who in private (recorded phone call) after signing the Civil Rights Act (and giving away the farm on welfare, food stamps, affirmative action and a million other socialist crap programs) stated outtright... "I'll have the N****rs voting democrat for the next 100 years." Look it up. It's all over the Internet.... and it's not fake news. Look up some of Johnson's phone calls. They are all on YouTube.
Those statements should be in every Republican political ad from now to eternity... along with a reminder of which party Lincoln belonged to.
Parties with bankrupt ideas (ie. socialists, communists, progressives) who can't win on their message... must... I'll say again... MUST... resort to everything from fraud to terrorism.

P.S. You know who was trained and stirring up crap in that stomping ground in the '80s? That's right... none other than Tim Kaine. Hillary's running mate. Who was an activist, communist priest stirring ^%$#t in the region. Too bad the SF down there didn't catch him in an accidental crossfire... Just 'sayin. Instead, he'es another of the Obama-like Manchurian Candidate.... Kaine, Obama, Bernie.... How many other outright communists have infiltrated us? And these aren't Russian Communists any more... they are home-grown scum... educated, trained and prepared on our own campuses. The rot is deep. The Swamp... is just the part of it we see daily.
