NEW SHOOTERS WELCOME!!!
Doesn't cost anything, for fun and bragging rights, and we share beneficial information learned each month.

This is the monthly thread for posting scores for our monthly
SH MONTHLY RIMFIRE 25 & 50yd 4 POSITION COMPETITION
SH MONTHLY 50yd TACTICAL RIMFIRE COMPETITION
SH "WHAT BUGS ME" RIMFIRE COMPETITON

Try out the "Support Side" option for a twist in practice / training.

Please view the guidelines & rules for all the Short Range Competitions here:
http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...-rimfire-competiton-rules-rev-feb-2013-a.html

Click link for Printable Targets:
http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...-competitions-rev-feb-2013-a.html#post2342454
The targets are set up to be the same dimensions as any of the targets that are commercially available, to be used with 8.5" x 11"; printer paper, and to use minimal ink. For the 4P 5 bull target, a portion of the edge can be folded and matched / stapled / taped to the other side - essentially making one large target.

Scores of all the short range competitions will sorted by the type of competition, distance, caliber, and sighting device used and compiled at month's end. Scores found in error can be corrected by the original creator of that month's thread.
If there are any problems with any of the links to the targets or rules please PM TOP PREDATOR to try to fix them for the good of the order.

I don't know why I haven not shot this before? It looks like a ton of fun, however I may have to wait a few months to be competitive again... its getting cold here in Maine. I do have a few questions:
1: Can a shooting coat and pants be worn? I am talking about a ISU or a NRA leather or canvas hard back coat and pants.
2: Is there a restriction on the style of sling to be used? Meaning can I use my ISU Anschutz sling for the sling supported positions (I will probably shoot offhand unsupported if I can use my ISU coat).

I just want to be "legal" for this. Thank you Top Predator for putting this on.

1. yes, fancy comp clothes can be used (though speedos are frowned upon unless your in "certain parts" of the country :D ). taking a peek at the 4position rule: #2. SUPPORT / SHOOTING AIDS - A Sling may be used when shooting each Bull. Shooting gloves allowed. Bipod, Backpack, or other front support to the forestock / barrel in combination with a sling may be used ONLY when shooting the Low Right Bull - BUT no rear support.

2. no restriction on slings. just just a couple of "shoulder only no rear bag" things on the short range and long range shoots, depending on what you are doing.

i can't take credit, joe martin and a few others started up these things with lots of input and majority votes from the SH rimfire groupies (meant with respect) to get it to where it is.

with the ammo situations and Armageddon type weather most of us are experiencing, it's been a little slow this year, i'm guilty of not getting my azz out there too. hopefully '14 will be better for everyone.

we swap this stickie out every month, i've also asked the admin that the "6 groups of five" be added as a stickie, along with unsticking the now somewhat stale "learnings / match talk" threads -- but have a link to them in the header of the monthly threads as there is some great reference material there for equipment, tips, tricks, etc that a novice or experienced shooter can use either here or elsewhere.

Support side was a challenge! I felt very awkward, especially after I dropped the second shot in offhand, and nearly just gave up on it. Compounding the simple awkwardness of doing everything in mirror image, I was wearing eyeglasses, when I normally wear contacts. I don't remember ever shooting left-handed with eyeglasses before. The frames were getting in the way, scope blurring and graying out, etc.

But, I had the ammo and had the time and targets already up, so I persevered. Good luck to everybody else. If I get time, I'll try to do one or two of the other matches.

to sort of make it easy on myself, i toned down the way i usually wrap up the scores below. i have to admit i haven't shot this much either, i never considered myself a fair weather shooter, but the stuff we've had has got me way behind on trigger time.

hopefully with ammo loosening up and spring on the horizon, they'll be more shooting in both the short and long range comps.
