So I went to the range today to shoot my brand new .308 rifle for the first time! I brought with me the following rounds.
Federal Gold Metal Match 168g Sierra HPBT
McNett's DoubleTap Match 168g HPBT
Lake City 1965 Match 173g FMJ
I acknowledge that I am not a very good shot, so don't laugh at my groups. However, (and I'm sure not to most of your surprise) there was a significant difference in 100 yard my groupings. I'm not being bias. I fired 20 rounds of each type in sequence without getting up, moving, or changing targets while shooting the best I could. Squares are 1".
Federal Gold Metal Match (5 rnds)
McNett's DoubleTap (6 rnds)
Lake City (5 rnds)
Needless to say I know which brand I will be avoiding in the future.
