Field & Stream Picks the 25 Best AR's...

Re: Field & Stream Picks the 25 Best AR's...

Okay...I flipped through a few pages (I'm not going to read all 26 F@#$%^& pages...wish the A$$holes at F&S would learn how to publish articles online in a better, more compact format), but in the few I did read, I don't know that the author is any more qualified to list the top 25 AR rifles than the man in the moon. He talked to some folks at Gunsite, Blackwater, etc. He went to a couple of "schools". BFD!!

Second, why in the hell is F&S publishing anything on the top 25 AR rifles?!?! It isn't exactly like the AR-15 rifles (or variants) are the magazine's cup of tea. They really should stick to hunting and fishing and general "outdoor sportman" related topics. All they do by publishing topics like this is further draw attention to topics they don't fully understand and create more polarization in the shooting sports/firearms field. (Hell, just look at some of the comments...particularly the uneducated and idiotic comment at the top of page one).

?

A list of 25 Best of anything is just about useless.....

"Best" means something all together different, it means knowing how and why something is better than something else....and having the guts to take a stand and not worry about loosing potential advertisers....

Re: Field & Stream Picks the 25 Best AR's...

Magazine publishers pick articles which they think will cause the people who see the magazine on the newstand to buy it.

I saw a note from a magazine editor, who noted that most men's fitness magazines featured a cover article on abdominal conditioning, and most women's fitness magazines feature articles on reducing the size of thighs and butts - because that's what the readers wanted.

Conveying useful information to the reader, once the magazine is sold, is a less-important consideration. Caveat emptor.

Very true Lindy. It's just about like the so called sale papers stores put out. The majority of items in the sale paper are advertised at the regular price, with just a few items listed at a reduced price to draw the customer into the store.

Not to mention the "sell out" of publications to advertisers. The more advertising space you buy, the more print space you get in terms of articles, reviews, etc., and, conveniently, the better your reviews seem to be within the publication. Nevermind the relative worthlessness of a product in comparison with other non-advertiser products.
