Finally got my scope mounted, ready to go out and shoot my new 700p!

I've been looking hight and low for some Seekins rings, but I finally got my Vortex version of the same Seekins rings in the mail today. I've only loosely mounted the scope, but I'm nearly ready to go out and shoot it for the first time! Let me know if anyone has any feedback or suggestions.

Scope: Bushnell 3.5x21 G2DMR (from Liberty Optics)
Base: Leupold 15moa
Rings: Vortex Precision Matched Rings 34mm rings Low .92" (i.e Seekins rings)
Bipod: Harris HBRMS 6-9"

After mounting the scope I'm kind of surprised that there is still a decent gap between the barrel and the scope, considering these are the lowest rings I could find. Going forward, I still have to get the badger bolt knob installed and decide if I'm going to upgrade the stock or just have it inlet for some Badger DBM. If I do keep the HS stock and get some DBM, I also might add a cheek rest (Karstens, or Bradley).

I mounted the bipod both ways and for some reason this way seemed to make more sense. Is there a benefit to mounting it 180 degrees the other way?

That....and the bipod won't fold up on you when you put your shoulder into the rifle.

Recoil beats the tripod legs against the stops and loosens the tripod mount.
When you lean into the rifle, the legs fold.

We're all here to learn and it never stops. I usually keep all my Bipods backwards since it's easier to keep it on and store in the Safe. But I usually remember to turn it around when shooting but not taking pictures so I got that a couple of times too.

Anyway, Great Looking Starter Rifle Bro! Glad to see you knew not to skim on the Scope, Rings, and Base. Now let's see some range reports and future evolutions!

Mounting the bipod as far forward as possible gives the greatest precision; the longer distance between the butt plate and bipod mount yields less angular movement of the barrel axis when the butt of the rifle moves.

After repositioning the bipod (thanks) I played around with the scope position a little more, which had me end up sliding it forward about an inch or so. That seemed to get me better eye relief.

The stock that comes with the police rifle is actually not too bad. Instead of messing around with adjustable hardware, why not just go for a triad tactical stock pack? It comes with velcro shims that you can use to get a great sight height with your scope. If you're in the market for DBM, just cough up the dough for Surgeon and do it right the first time. Another option would be to send it to APA and have them instal their DBM.

Looks great. I would get a pod lock to easily adjust the tension on the bipod.

I have the same rings. The thing with the Vortex Lows is that they are really Seekins Med. Rings.
