Suppressors Finally got my suppressor mounted on my RDP rifle

It took a year but I got it all done. It is an AAC 762 SD and Randy did an awesome job with a quick turnaround.

It appears to have 1 1/4 MOA straight down POI change but I wasn't shooting well last night. My groups did shrink and it is amazingly quiet. I wouldn't say hearing safe as the sonic crack is still loud but damn it is quiet. Also it feels like shooting a 10/22 as the rifle weighs 15lbs.

I had to adjust my scope 3 MOA up and left after reassembly so I wonder if that is the mount that threw things off? I am quite happy now to shoot the crap out of it.

The scope is ugly but funtional as I sold my IOR to buy an engagement ring. Our 6 month anniversary is in 3 days. I finally ran it all the way up and down on elevation and it has 68 MOA down from my 100 yd zero and 93 up for a total of 161 MOA!!! Now I will see if it hits the same zero when I go out tomorrow. I will be replacing it at some point with a Nightforce 3.5-15x either standard or FFP if I can find a good deal on one and have the money. The SS just doesn't seem to focus very well for me.

So I shot more today and have a question. Having never use a can before is a wandering POI normal as the can heats up?
This rifle was a laser beforehand shooting in the .5's and .6's for me but with the can on it seems to change. As I adjust the scope it seems to not hit where adjustments should make it hit. Everything is tight including action, rings(both caps and rings to base), as well as the first group shot was 5 rounds in .5" at 100yds.

I wonder is it possible for the barrel to be moving enough to touch the stock as there is only about a 1/16" between the two.

The suppressor mount hasn't moved either.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. It is possible it's the scope or that my shooting sucked today after the first group I'm just not sure what to try next.

I have had the same question. I am relatively new to this discipline, but have a 762-SD on a Rem 700 LTR. I have had the feeling I was chasing my rounds around as the can heated up. Not sure on this as I don't have enough time with the rifle to say for certain.

I am getting it back after having some work done on it and plan to spend considerably more time shooting suppressed and unsuppressed in an attempt to nail this down. It is a disconcerting thought though as those darns cans are pricey and you definitely want them to make improve things for you, not possibly cause a degradation.

Well, I think my problem is a combination of not shooting it for a year and not turning the suppressor back exactly the same.

Once I put more shoulder(forward pressure) into the rifle both groups(on and off) tightened up dramatically back to the .6s and less at 100. Then I went to work on the can. Turning it tight caused big changes but backing off just a tiny bit seemed to work. Once in awhile I would go a click to far(it seems easy to do) I would get off by 1/2 MOA more but if I was careful I could get it to repeat.

I actually put 6 rounds from two groups(taking the can off and putting it on again) into a dime(not exaggerating).

Now to keep working on my technique and getting the can tightened the same every time.

My brother in law lent me some ammo to shoot as I went through the 50rds I took and man Hornady TAP 155s shoot nice.

Good to hear. More time behind the gun is the best thing I could do as well.

I shoot Hornady AXAX 155gr TAP as well and the more experienced shooters I have been with seem to like it a lot.

Well, I thought all was well then I read the directions again for the can.

In the instructions it says to screw it on to the point that the springs engage in the valleys and that the can should be tight. However, on my can on the .308 Blackout flashider and the .223 on my AR-15 when you put it on all the way tight you get one spring on the peak and the other just starting to enter the valley.

This is on both mounts so I wonder if that could be causing POI shifts. If anyone else has this can is it tight against the shoulder of the mount when you shoot. When mine goes into the last notch it has a little wiggle to it.

This is sooo frustrating I wish I would have just gotten a thread on can instead and bought a QD for the AR where I don't care as much about accuracy.

Yep, same situation here regarding spring and hills/valleys. AAC is supposedly going to a 51-tooth mount for the 762-SD. I'd like that retrofitted to mine even if it means buying another darn mount.
