Ive read alot of post about guys not liking the .270 because there is not a big bullet selection.

Saw some 140gr Bergers and decided to try them out. I shot some thru the rifle and they shot very well.
Bought a few more boxes of them and i think i found a keeper.

Factory Rem 700 SPS 270
Millett TRS 4-16x50
140gr Berger VLD
BR-2 Primers
59.0grs H4831SC
OAL is 3.455" (engages the riflings .05")
2971FPS -/+ 5fps on a 5 shot string

Sighted it in at 600 and decided to just check the group since im gonna try for a 600yd match this saturday.

Since steel isnt the "best" thing to check groups with, i measured outside to outside then inside to inside and found the differences then came up with 3.66". I set the calipers to 3.66" and it looks perfect for the center to center.
Can see my little scribbling in the paper.

This was done on a single sandbag so im sure if i can get a few sandbags out there i can it alot steadier.
Waited about 3 minutes between shots so my little pencil barrel wouldnt heat up.

Thanks,
Na im just using a sandbag resting on a 4x4 so i can get it off the ground some so the stock fits in the pocket of my shoulder.
The magazine floor plate rest on the sand bag, i didnt want to put any pressure on the forend of the stock since its a cheesy factory stock.

Good shooting NonnieSelman. Just to remind you so you don't get into trouble with the Mods. Group shots should have at least 5 shots.

Ha dang. I only had 4 rounds left and i had to take one loaded one home to make sure i was shooting the above load mentioned so that only left me 3 rounds. Ill post up how it does in the match Saturday.
Thanks for lookin out for me. Ill modify the OP tom when i get on the computer, phone isnt the easiest thing to use.
