Well I guess it will be for all around use, but I got some time to practice with it last night under NVGs. What a great time. The RDS is actually EASIER to use with NV than without. I assume this is because the objective lens is closer to the optic, effectively working as if your eye is closer. It seemed like the dot was there with every draw from the holster.

The 509t probably isnt the best for this use. As the top of the glass has a surprising amount of fisheye/magnification effect that will make you mad. Not near ad clear as the 507c I picked up in the store. The other thing is that you must use an adapter plate with an RMR cut slide, so I may have another slide milled just for this optic and put a 507c acss vulcan on this when they come back in stock. I was debating between the two and finally decided on the 509t for the extra durability, closed emitter, and it was $298 with primary arms 12% off sale.

If you have NVGs and havent tried it yet, I highly suggest it. I have a feeling I'll be buying a bunch of pistol RDS's in the near future. The suppressed tx22 will probably be next for some cheap fun and pest control.

The Holosun 507c with the ACSS Vulcan reticle makes aiming especially simple since the reduced distance to the objective of the NODs makes the whole 120 moa ring visible much of the time.

I saw that in Aaron Cowan's review. I likely would have bought one of those instead if they were in stock at the time. But primary arms wouldnt let you put the 12% discount towards a pre-order. And the enclosed emitter of the 509t is just such a big plus IMO. I'm sure eventually there will be a 509t acss, but they may be waiting for a new generation with less fisheye/magnification that could cause issues with the 120moa ring.

I have a dual illuminated RMR but it's got the BIG OLE MOA amber dot. Works fine but I am going to find a smaller MOA one. I found a smaller one for atop my ACOG and it works great.

Actually, if using with NV almost exclusively, the shittiest daytime RMR is the best nighttime RMR: the amber triangle dual illum. I got it many years ago, sucks ass for everything in reasonable light, absolutely kicks ass as an NV pistol optic: dim as hell, sharp aiming point (top of the triangle) and gross aiming point (the triangle body.)
I absolutely hate that optic for everything but NV, but love it for NV.

I hate that Trijicon loves to ass-rape customers, but do appreciate the occasional law of unintended consequences.
