I'm looking at picking up a used Savage .308 here locally and was looking to see if anyone could give me an idea of what it's worth.

Savage 10SA .308 w/ boots bolt handle/knob
22" Lilja stainless match barrel 1:10 (126 rounds)
Choate stock w/ bipod and Karsten cheek rest
FTE muzzle brake
Millett 4-16x50 TRS-1
duracoated in digital camo.

Thanks for any help you can give. I know this isn't the right section for the second quesiton, but don't want to start a second post for something so small.

I have a SWFA SS 3-9x42, should I keep the SS or the Millett??? Plan on selling one, just not sure which yet.

Re: Help with purchase - value of Savage 10SA .308

Scope will depend on how far out you want to shoot...the 3-9 won't get you out to 1000 yards but SS are great scopes....def recommend going with a 30mm tube

Re: Help with purchase - value of Savage 10SA .308

the millett will get you too 1000. used its 200ish
the base savage 10fp is 450-600ish
the stock you can look up a price since you didnt list a model its hard to say
the barrel i would guess was 300ish
the FTE is 75ish
the karsten is 30-45ish
and if you like the duracoat, cool, if not its value is up to you

these are just estimates from looking at stuff here. pictures would help

Re: Help with purchase - value of Savage 10SA .308

Updated with pictures..

He said that he had a gunsmith mount the barrel and that it does not use the normal savage nut. The brake is screw on so it's also got the plus of a threaded barrel.

Was looking to sell for $1200

Re: Help with purchase - value of Savage 10SA .308

id have to agree. i wish i could afford badass glass, but i cant at the moment. millett had the most features for the money at the time and kinda still does now, unless you look at a falcon for $100-150 more. everybody loves the SS but i wanted mil/mil so i got the millett with 25 mils elevation.

ill never understand why people eliminate the nut

I guess the claim is that it's more accurate, not sure if I believe that, but thats what I was told.

Either way it will out shoot me, got a lot of learning to do!

Re: Help with purchase - value of Savage 10SA .308

I ended up pulling the trigger and am the owner of my first bolt rifle. I have no long range experience but figure no time like the present to start learning!

Don't know the original round count, but he said it was 126 on the barrel. It is not the bladed accu trigger, so not sure if it's older or a replacement.

First range trip

Didn't want to start a new post, so I just edited the title and stuck my new post here at the bottom

Took the new rifle out (Savage 10 with lilja barrel) for my first range trip, man it's a shooter! I had some really good groups and some that were just okay. Can tell that when they aren't so good it's me causing it. The range I went to was only 50 yards so not even really getting to see what it can do yet, but here are the pictures from the day.

These were all shot with 178gr AMAX, 41.2 gr of 4064, 2.811 OAL

From the bench off bipod and my hand as my rear bag (need to get one)

First 10 rounds ever through a bolt action or .308

I think it's possible the barrel is too big of a diameter now to use the nut attachment method anymore, someone told me a while ago about this when going to a really large contour on a Savage. Just my .02cents.Correct me if I'm wrong. Goodshootin'

That is exactly right. With how thick the barrel is you would have to remove so much of the stock to clearance it. The barrel is 1.25 at the breach and 1.05 at the muzzle.
