I have not owned a rifle in a number of years, and this is definitely my first custom.

Re: First Custom Rifle

24" Krieger 8.5T, Mac Brake
Chambering: 6.5x47 Lapua (match chamber/no-neck turn)
Rem 700 SA LH, which has been trued.
McRee stock.
Using 40.7 grains of H-4350, CCI sm primer, and 130 Berger at 2838 fps.
Rifle was built and cerakoted by Mac's Gunworks.
Recoil is about nothing.
Started confirming drops at 500 yards on Thursday, but didn't get to 1200 yards. Wind and mirage made it to hard to see.
Will try to get out on Tuesday morning-Wind is supposed to be down some by then.

Re: First Custom Rifle

Got her out again and took it to 1100 yards on steel and did very good.
I did modify my drop chart after my first outing and it seems to be spot on, but still waiting for one of those ideal days for confirming drops again.
I did spy an unsuspecting rock @ 1674 yards and took five shots.
Scared it really bad on two occasions, but no hits.
She is definitely a keeper!

Re: First Custom Rifle

Maybe for the second rifle, you'll have them put the bolt on the correct side? It's a good looking stick and definitely one of a kind. Nice choice on the colors!

Re: First Custom Rifle

Thanks guys!
My other two rifles that I had 15-20 years ago were RH. I can run a RH rifle OK, but this is my first lefty and my first custom.
I let Chuck MacIntosh (Mac's Gunworks) choose the color combo.
I was looking for something different though, and he knew that.

Maybe you guys can help me on a grip question.
I am looking for an AR grip (work with the McRee) that comes down more vertically, not at such an angle as the one I have on there.
I know I won't find one completely vertical, but one more so than the one I have on there.
Any suggestions?

Re: First Custom Rifle

If any of you guys are shooting a 24" 260 Rem., in a short action I would be interested in knowing what kind of MV's you are getting, especially with 130's.
Thanks!
