Hunting & Fishing First deer with gas gun and hand rolled ammo

I finally killed one with my DPMS LR308. Not much of a rack but, being next to the last day of season I popped him. I was walking back to the cabin and he jumped out of the timber on my left, ran out in a food plot on my right and stopped at about fifty yards. Quartering away, I put the entry hole between the last two ribs and it came out just in front of the left front shoulder. It was about a half dollar sized exit wound. My hand rolled ammo was RP brass, cci primers, 44.0gr IMR4064, Nosler 168gr blst. Rifle was DPMS LR308 with 18" bull, RRA 2 stage trigger, PRS, Midwest stubby mag, Bushnell trophy 3-9x40 MD in Warne rings. Thanks for looking.

for me its always more rewarding to make a kill or great shot with ammo i made myself.

In some ways, a deer is a deer, regardless of rack size it's highly rewarding. Still waiting to kill my first with handloads. Good work!

Here's my first with DPMS 308...from GA. At least didnt come home empty cooler'd.

Its wet because it went through the swamp post shot. First time I got to drag a deer over water...pretty cool how easy it is.
