I'm looking for first hand experience with Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 scopes. More specifically their tracking/repeatability or lack there of.

I'm looking at the 1-4x model for a 300 Blackout SBR. I like it for it's compact size. I tried a Vortex Viper PST 1-4, but it was too bulky for my purpose. I don't need the 30mm tube, illumination or high turrets.

I'm not going to be cranking the knobs all over the place all the time. Basically I'll only adjust the elevation when switching between super and subsonic rounds. What kind of repeatability can I expect? How well do they hold up?

I don't know about the adjustment knobs, but one that I handled a local gun store was cheap feeling and I couldn't get the power selector ring to turn.
it was just one scope. Others probably have a different experiences.

I dont think you would like one compared to the vortex. I have the pst capped version sitting on top of a 16 inch bison armory 6.8 Love the thing. I dont use the lighted reticule much but on one power its like an aimpoint and works well for home defense. I live in the sticks and really like it for the coyotes or other shit in the yard at night, lighted reticule is great. It is a 30mm tube and weighs more than the lupy but on my 16 inch rifle it balances well and really dont notice the weight. Great glass as well. Just my two cents worth.

I looked at one at cabelas along with a vx-r patrol. The mark ar was light but there was a significant drop in quality. For just a few hundred bucks and 2 oz. I would get the vx-r.

I own a Mk AR mod1 3-9x40 and like it pretty well for the money. I haven't done extensive tracking tests with it yet, so no data there as of yet. I've only played with the 1.5-4x20 in a store and compared it to a few others at 1x.

I much preferred the Vortex PST and Burris Mtac/Tac 30 to the Leupold based mainly on the others being true 1x on low power and the Leupy not. I like the turrets, mag ring, and the light weightness of the mod 1's. But, at the $399 that the PST can be found on sale, to me, it is the clear value winner in 1-4x out there.

While you don't have to have true 1x to shoot up close, it sure is nice to have a seamless sight picture. It hurts my feeble brain less.

Than you for the responses.

I'm with you guys on the true 1x magnification for close up work, but 99% of the shots with this rifle will be between 50 and 100 yards.

The Vortex PST 1-4x is a step above the Mark AR Mod 1. Proven repeatability and more features, but it's much bigger than what I was hoping for (it weighs nearly twice as much).

Basically if the Mark AR tracks well under limited use conditions it would work for my needs.

Anybody else own or used one of these scopes? Tested the tracking?
