Hunting & Fishing First Hunt!

And we didn't even see our intended game, much less get any shots off. In fact, the only thing with fur that we saw was a feral cat.

We were hunting squirrel in Miller-Welch Central KY WMA and it seemed as if squirrels had never been to that part of KY in the history of the earth. Not even a branch sake in the distance.

All that said, it would be a great coyote hunting area. Lots of scat and plenty of places to make a stand. Too bad one can't hunt coyote there. They can be trapped, just not hunted.

I'll be going again on Monday morning at a different spot. Hopefully I can see squirrels aplenty and signs of coyote so that I can go back.

Re: First Hunt!

i know how you feel...when im hunting whitetail the squirrels dont seem to want to shut up. constantly making noise and barking at eachother. then when i want to hunt them, theres maybe a few if not any to be found. little bastards are slick

It's because all the squirrels in central KY are holed up on UK's campus. I can't walk to class without seeing 7-10. I wish I could use a pellet gun to shoot the ones in my front yard but a couple of my frat brothers got the game warden called on the house for that already.
