Got my first two stocks in and man. What a great job AI did on the AX. Feels good in the hands and a little lighter than the AICS. Can't wait to shoot it - this one was a customers so no range time with one yet but first impressions are I really like it. Seems very well balanced and well thought out.

Re: First impression of the new AICS AX

Yes but with most of the Surgeon's there are a couple of area's which need to be relieved for the bolt normally. If you are referring to the XL, that would be something only available thru Surgeon.

You should not require any bedding or modifications to drop a Remington action into the AX and achieve the same results as JamieD.

Re: First impression of the new AICS AX

Putting it together was about as simple as you could make it. The way the tube locks onto the chasis is rock solid. The tube is one piece and there are ten screws that fasten it. A little overkill but my bet would be they don't come loose.

Customer was from NY and will have it Tomm. He'll get some picks with the optics on it and some feed back from the range.

I told him to make sure he wiped my drool off of the side of it before he took it to the range : ) My .260 is down for a little TLC so I won't have my own ready for the range for a week or two.

Pretty sure that is only for the actual AX rifles rather than the chassis.

Re: First impression of the new AICS AX

The pictures did have the AI M700 Pic rail installed which was not attached to the tube but simply overlapped the rear section. There has been several changes to the system since then and this rail could become an accessory later offered.

Re: First impression of the new AICS AX

Yes that is one of the mounts and one of the 1st AX AICS's. The only nice thing this rail will do for you will be up the scope up higher and a coplanar rail system. Most end users are not using NV or Thermal systems so a lower line of sight to center of bore axis is more desirable.

The relief for the straight bolt Surgeon actions once done is nearly unnoticeable and will not hurt any resale of the chassis for what its worth. The AX requires much less modifications as compared to the current Legacy AICS systems. If you have any questions feel free to contact us and we will explain and be glad to assist.

Glad I found this thread. Stacey, do you have any pictures you can share of what the modifications that needs to be done on the bolt handle area of the AX? Thanks.

Drool.... Excellent work mate!

Can't wait for mine to arrive this week.
They're one of the best, most functional looking stocks on the market.

dteam702: Would you mind sharing some details on that build? Action used, barrel, muzzle break, cost, who built it for you and so on. Thanks!

Re: First impression of the new AICS AX

My wallet is hating all you peoples with AI rifles and chassis. It is already feeling really light after some work from CDI, and now Chad...

Dang good looking rifles. I think I need to find someone close that has one and that will let me...fondle (is that the right word?)...his/her rifle.
