Recently sold some stuff to upgrade one of two rifles with an optic. My rough plan was one of two ways. A PMII 5-25 H2CMR on a 700 in 300 ultra. Or a PM II 3-20 on a MWS in 7-08. I was ok on either upgrade. Currently the ultra has no optic even mounted. The 7mm has an old old Leupold 3.5-10 mil dot BDC purchased long ago before I knew any better. Leupold won't switch the turrets to .1 mils, I tried to see if they would. M1/M3LR scope, forget.
All was good on my plan until I read of vectronix seeming to be phasing out all but the 25C and up. So I'm wondering what most of you would do, buy a PLRF 10/15 series and then wait longer for optics? It all seems to hinge on reliable distance information. I'm new to LR shooting but to me seems to be a gamble waiting for vectronix to come out with any replacement even close to the terrapin or even the 10/15 series price wise. Curious what others would do.
I'm not all that confident of other brands of rangefinders after having read how vastly superior the vectronix models were to everything else. The 1600 b and bushy tac one mile I suppose would be the only real options if not using the PLRFs?
