First Run and Gun, First Run and Gun Build

Range report: I am beyond satisfied with this little 13.7 and the 73 grain ELD-M. With the k16i I took this rifle to 800 yards today with no issues at all. If I can't hit at 600y at the RNG it's not the fault of the equipment. I think if it were midlength it would be near perfect but its not bad at all in the current configuration. Ill probably pin and weld the brake and get a dedicated lower for this upper instead of borrowing the current SBR lower from my .300 BLK. I like it enough it deserves to be its own complete system.

After experimentation and some time with the weapon system, this is the final configuration I will go into the RNG with:

I'll be at this one. I'm going with an NX8 as the red dot lights up like a fireball for the hoser stages and FFP for holds at 600 should be pretty quick.

Did some figuring on round count (using stage descriptions).
Minimum rounds with zero misses:
Stage 1: 10 pistol / 10 rifle
Stage 2: 20 pistol
Stage 4: 10 rifle
Stage 5: 0 pistol / 12 rifle
Stage 6: 6 pistol / 6 rifle

Worst case scenario
Stage 1: 15 pistol / 15 rifle
Stage 2: 30 pistol
Stage 4: 30 rifle
Stage 5: 15 pistol / 12 rifle
Stage 6: 12 pistol / 12 rifle

Worst case total rifle: 69…bringing 80 in 3 mags
Worst case total pistol: 72…bringing 78 in 4 mags

My initial plans were 80 rifle and 90 pistol but had considered going to 100/100, perhaps that would be overkill.

Thats the legs for the heathen bipod, they insert into the barricade stop. Whole system is 3.5 ounces, legs, barricade stop, everything.
So almost two years later, how is this bipod holding up for you?
In theory it sounds perfect for a Grendel pistol I'm finishing up, but a lot of negative reviews make me hesitant.

It's been through 6 or 7 events and still holding up great. I wouldn't run without it. What are the negative reviews?

All the legitimate complaints are about the legs losing retention and falling out of their sockets if you load the bipod at all.
One review said that Heathen is aware of this and recommends not loading.

Hmm. I guess I could see number 1 happening if you are constantly in and out but I don't use the legs more than once per event and not much outside of that. I'll slap on a real bipod for zeroing work. I use the barricade stop all the time however. As for loading, I never load when using this bipod, I kind of figured that was a given.

To me the bipod is designed to be much better than off the magazine, much better than no support at all and better than shooting over a bag. I never expected it to be something I could load into for extremely precise work.

At 3.5 ounces there was a diametrically opposed stability/accessibility scale that to me was pretty obvious but fit my use case perfectly.

@Burdy that sounds like exactly what I want this bipod for. I don't even want a bipod on this particular gun but I know I'll occasionally wish I had something to rest it on. So as long as I've decided I'll need a bipod, it might as well stow nice and tidy out of the way and not weigh anything.
