I think if its a stress relief issue, the barrel would continue to walk as it heats up, rather than just settle after one shot.

However I'm not an expert on this, but I'll tag one in @Frank Green

I'll say if it is stress in the barrel.... it would continue moving on you. Not just the first shot in every group.

Why are the ES varying so much?

How is the barrel fouling?

If I caught it right... 800 rounds on a 243win.? Also could be at the end of the barrels life and it's being erratic.

If we do any testing at times... guess what caliber we pick to do it in usually? Yep 243win. because it so hard on barrels.

A 243win smokes a p&v test barrel in about 800-1000 rounds. Usually don't get much more than that out of them.

How does it shoot at long range? 500 yards or further. If the groups overall are poor... pull the stick and put a new one on it. It might be shooting good at short range but if long range is poor.... that's telling you the barrels on it last legs and it's a warning sign.

I liked the CDG so much I sold my AXMC to fund a new toy.
I know that's only anecdotal and I'm basing that off specs and my other arc actions.
I may sound like a bit of a fanboy, but arc makes the finest actions in the world imo.
plus I'm a big fan of that inertial ejector.
also I'm just guessing here but I predict that the cdg will go up in price relatively soon.

Be aware of the shoulder pressure you put on your first shots. Personally, I have a terrible habit of pushing my shoulder into the stock. What I should be doing is pulling the stock into my shoulder with my shooting hand. This will drive my shots high.

I have to consciously think about relaxing my back and shoulders before firing.

maybe he just wants to sell more actions than the other guys, still I expect them to be 1000-1100 by 2025. based off nothing guess other than he said this was an introductory price. maybe as soon as he's not back ordered the price will increase.

The groups at distance 400-700yards are terrible and have always been terrible since the beginning. I contacted NSS where I purchased the barrel from and they put me in contact with Criterion. Criterion requested that I send the barrel back to them for inspection. As for the crazy ES/SD numbers, I'm at a total loss. All I can think is maybe the chamber is out of spec. Maybe a worn reamer. I really don't know. I've put a ton of time into doing everything I can to get this rifle to shoot. Nothing has worked.
