Hello, I am looking to purchase my first suppressor. This will be used on a RPR 6.5 CM 90% of the time. However, I would like to have the option to put it on a semi auto and not be concerned with shooting multiple rounds. I am really looking at the dead air sandman TI and the dead air nomad. I understand there are higher rated suppressors such as a thunder beast but I am looking to start with something a little more affordable. Any suggestions for one or the other? Maybe even another suppressor in the same price range? Thanks in advance!

Thunder Beast 6.5 or 30 7” - Buy once, cry once. Never regret the decision.
I have the DA Ti direct thread. It moves between 5 barrels. Its a great can with no poi shift at all. I would seriously think about getting one with a QD, instead of direct if your going to put it on an ar tho. A 30 cal can will give you more choices down the road.
This also leaves room for a 22lr can. I have the mask also, its just about the same as the tbac 22-takedown.
Now, not to sound like a DA fanboy, I have 2 tbac ultra 9's 6.5 in jail. I bought them because I shoot mostly 6&6.5 cals, and I wanted maximum suppression....well and everyone is a fanboy on this site.
Since this is your first one, there are some things to think about.....
POI shift matters, don't go cheap. Both DA and TBAC are top notch.
If your going to move it around guns, especially a semi, I would go QD over direct.
Buy a 22LR also while you are at it. Its going to be a year before you get to use them anyway. I would def go DA or TABC for a 22LR. This is the fun can !!! Most guys regret not getting one with a first time diving into NFA.
This will not be your last purchase, it is the beginning of more to come.
If money is a concern, realize you can get 2 DA's for the price of 1 TBAC.
I have 4 cans currently + 2 in jail and shoot quite a bit. To keep my round count down, I bought additional suppressors. You will not believe how much more enjoyable shooting is with one all the time. There are lots of good ones out there, but I can highly recommend Dead Air.

If I was buying my first can, I would buy a surefire Socom 300SPS (7.62mm). Great all around can, not stupid expensive and is at home on a semi or bolt gun, 5.56 Nato - 300 win mag and everything in between. It’s about 8 inches long....the socom 762 mini is 6” but I don’t think it’s rated for magnum calibers...both are roughly 1000 or so. Would only buy a 5.56 class can if it’s not my first or for a very specific build like a Mk 18 or mk12 mod 0,1 or H
All of those are great, check out the YHM Resonator. Fully welded, tubeless design. Great QD system, and the mounts are cheap compared to other companies. Mine has a POI shift on all my rifles (but all suppressors will have one, you're hanging a 10+ ounce weight to the very end of your barrel), but the shift is repeatable. It's the same shift every time I put it on, and accuracy is the same whether its on the gun or not. Rated for 300 RUM, full auto rated. And its super cheap. I highly recommend it.
If money is a main concern get something .30 cal. But remember that a supressor is not a normal purchase. It has an extremely long wait time and it is hard to sell or trade once you receive it. Do your research thoroughly and remember: Buy once cry once.
I think you have to start with what your wants and expectations are first. Many of us (or at least me) made bad choices on our first cans. Which should always I think start with or be in conjunction with a 22 can. As it’s the only one that’s really going to blow your socks off. All the rest are all going to be different versions of loud.
So from there I think you need to ask yourself what am I looking for? How you want to attach it is important as well. For me at first there weren’t a lot of options that locked up well on qd mounts so I went with Surefire Socom and then doubled down on them again with the SPS. Really wished I had gone another way. For me now the most important thing on centerfire cans is weight and length with enough sound reduction to not make me immediately deaf. But my main usage is on a carried SBR hunting pigs. If you are shooting bench rest or not carrying it around the length and weight may not matter.
All this being said I think you are very much on the right path with DA and the TBAC cans. I personally have a Nomad in purgatory but was looking hard at the Trash Panda and the Ultra 5 and 7. The direct thread option and the ability to try other systems like Plan B is what finally made my decision. Plus the end caps and e brake option are all interesting options too.

I did narrowed my choices down to the thunder beast, omega300 and the sandman k and after calling some shops around me I found the omega for less than $800 and went that route so now i sit and play the wait game. It'll be used on a 300wm down to a 6dasher and like some stated I'm already planning to buy more.

You'll wait 9+ months and realistically have it until you die, save for what you think is the best. Not the most affordable.
Yep....in fact, buy two (or three) now instead of just one.

ATF requested an additional $13 million for 2019 to support 25 new staff for NFA processing, and their goal of this is to process within 90. The budget was approved, so they are getting the additional funding, now we just have to see if they are going to do what they say there are going to do.
OP, look into the Energetic Armament Vox S as well. Like the Nomad, it uses the same threads in the rear of the can so you can add in your favorite QD Mount like DA keymo, Q Cherry Bomb/Plan b, or a Area 419 mount.
It also features a wipe in the end cap that can make shooting 300 blackout rediculously quiet in a bolt gun.

Gov isn't exactly known for their efficiency.... I assume there were other factors for that $13 mil, that's just the relevant info i took, $13 mil of the $1 bil the atf got is going directly to NFA processing.
Great advice above - buy a .30 cal can and if your budget allows, two rimfire cans - they are that much fun.

I just placed an order for a 30 cal ultra 7 from thunderbeast for my first suppressor but I did so because I managed to get a 50% off certificate so the price was great. You might consider looking at silencertech suppressors Barry bass makes a great can run by several top prs and nrl shooters

If you aren't hunting with it and always wearing ear pro, I'd get the .30 for greater flexibility in the long run. I hated the 300WM I ran for a while and thought I'd never go back to .308 or running 300WM again after moving to 6.5...
but I might shoot .308 or 300 Norma again (.243Win as well) on my next build/purchase and wouldn't have that flexibility with a 6.5 can
Read up on the 7" vs 9" attenuation in terms of decibels
You'll get a quieter silencer running 6.5 instead of .30
but you're trading weight/length for a few decibels
you're trading future flexibility for a few decibels if going 6.5 vs .30
If you're running an RPR and budget is a concern, get a .30 can for sure

For your first suppressor that is going to see dual use on a bolt gun and a gas gun I'd get a SiCo Omega. I'm saying this as someone who DOES NOT own one. I went with a Dead Air Sandman. My buddy bought the Omega. We both use them on our 6.5 CM and AR's and 300BLK. There is no noticeable difference in sound. His is a lot lighter and shorter and just as durable. They were roughly the same price as well. I like the Sandman, but if I had to do it over I'd get the Omega. Same performance in a smaller and lighter package.
I’m a big fan of Dead Air cans. My first was a sandman L and Mask HD. The sandman is indestructible and you can change endcaps. Whatever you do go with for a rifle can buy a .22 rim fire can at the same time if you can swing the $$$. I love my rifle cans but my rim fire can gets the most use by far.
