Suppressors First supressor's Thoughts?

I have been doing a lot of reading on different kinds and I think I have settled on these for the first round.

22L-1 for P-22 up to 17HMR and a 10/22
30P-1 for 243 up to 300 winmag all 26 inch barrels
338BA for 300RUM and 338RUM with 28 inch barrels.

Any thoughts on these?

I'm still price checking with vendors on the hide but ready to get it rolling soon. I already handled the trust stuff.

for a 22 suppressor I would definitely consider the Silencerco SS Sparrow. Super easy to take apart and clean. It looks classy. And its quiet as hell. Plus its not too big. I love mine.

You can't go wrong with anything Thunderbeast. Their cans are awesome, and their CS is some of the best Ive ever come across.

Ill provide info where i can. TBAC makes great cans so cant go wrong with them. But plenty of other vendors make great cans too! So im just going off that and what i have experience with!


The 22L-1....I heard on on a 10/22 and it sounded great. But i dont like that it is a sealed can. My 22lr can gets dirty and being able to clean it is a nice bonus feature. Its also 2 ounces lighter than my can but at 6oz vs 4oz it really isnt noticeable. I liked the 22L-1 it jst didnt have the features i wanted. If you dont need user serviceable its a great option

-I have the Silencerco Spectre II (listed as just the spectre generally). It seemed to my ears to be about the same as the TBAC can. It is user serviceable so i can take the can apart and clean the lead out. Size (both are basically 6" long and 1" diameter) and weight (~4oz for tbac, 6oz for spectre) are VERY similar to the TBAC. It is also cheaper. I paid ~300 plus the 200 stamp so you can pick it up for a bit less than the TBAC.

The 30-p1....i just got mine a few months ago and love it! Cant say enough good things about it. Pick up a mirage cover of your choice (i went with the armaggedon from TBAC's site) though as the mirage from the can can get a bit bad if after 15-20 shots. POI and accuracy from it are still great compared to shooting with out it.

The 338BA....Zak corrected me so removed the possible new CA version. Other than that i cant help as i havent used/seen/or looked into these ones.


There are tons of great cans from all sorts of companies. All i will say is dont skimp and do your research before ya buy. I bought a 762-SDN6 and find it to be just an "ok" can. Theres things i dont like about it and wish i had gone with something else. Due to the 8 months buy once, cry once really applies

I have been looking at the Silencerco Spectre II also, It seems to be a great can. and the axiom seemed nice

I have also been looking at the harvester 30 and harvester big bore. They seem to be nice and the YHM titainium 30 and 338's didn't seem bad ether. way to many out there and every one has there own opinion on each one. So.... its a hard buy for the first round.

My only suggestions which is really just echoing what others have said.


22lr: either Silencerco Spectre II or Sparrow SS. The Sparrow will be a tad quieter on a rifle host but have first round pop on a pistol host. The Spectre ii won't have the frp but not as quiet on a rifle.

The 30 cal can: have you considered going the CB9 route? I personally like having a muzzle brake. It protects the crown, gives you an additional sacrifical blast baffle and also allows different barrel threads to be used without an adapter. The con is having more money tied up in brakes.

338BA: I have one pending..... Can't wait to shoot it on my 300 RUM.

I have not thought about the CB9 but I will look into it. I'm not apposed to a brake on any of the rifle/cans. I thread my own stuff so its a few minutes in the shop and ready to go. I was looking at the YHM titanium phantoms on 30 and 338 cals with the brakes but not much info on them.

The harvester cans looks great. Just keep in mind they are being marketed as hunting type cans. Vs others like the tbac cans are precision oriented. Just something to keep in mind. Not saying the harvester cans won't shoot sub moa but that's not really their intended use either. Though for the price they are very attractive!

As for brakes....they add up if you have multiple rifles. My 762sdn is up to four brakeout comps now...at 100 each I could have almost just gotten another can lol. And I only shoot suppressed now so the brakes are meh. If you get a tbac and wear out the first baffle on a direct thread I would bet money zak would rebuild it for you

All cans will be used for both, If I buy for precision the hunting will fall in-line.

How do the harvester line compare with the sound suppression with the TBAC's I have listed. I have both hunting and LR rifles i play with out to 1,000+ yards. So I might just get each can for each specific rifle and let it stay on its host. I have heard the youtube videos but they all sound about the same on a computer, as anyone done any shot group testing from can to can?

Ii would suggest trying to find a tbac 30ba. From my understanding you can screw the 338ba onto the 30ba mounts so you will have more versatility. I currently own a 30ba and love it. Have a liberty kodiak tl pending and planning on a 338ba soon. Hope that helps

The 22L-1 TBAC can is serviceable as it is TI and can be dipped, easy as pie. I clean it and the Spectre II all at the same time with the dip. So what the hell... What is not serviceable about it?

Oh and I love the Spectre II it is just heavy and I like it on my pistols. TBAC 22l-1 on the rifles.

I will go ahead and chime in....Surefire makes awesome suppressors. AAC makes great centerfire pistol cans as well. Do your own YouTube'in and research. You'll see.

I found you tube to be not a whole lot of help. It is very hard to capture the true sound. Very subjective to the video, location, distance. Even if they are done side by side.

Only way to shop is get a test drive with a dealer that has LOTS of cans and shoot them all and pick what works best for your application. Beware of the dealer with 2 cans and says they are the best. The only thing that will be the best is the mark up for him.

yeah, there is not many dealers around here who have any in stock to test, so I'm going off recommendations from here. Here is what I'm looking at now.

Those are great cans. I am lucky to have and help out a dealer close by, wasn't always that way though. I can feel your pain brother.
Maybe you can find some guys around close to you that have those and others you want to try.

Yeah, I have looked for a while now for any who brings things into the gun repair shop I work at. Only found a few 22 suppressors but they have been off name brand like C3. Not saying its not a good one just not many out I have found. So.. its frustrating but I'm mailing funds Monday for the last 3 I posted. I honestly think I'm doing good for the first round.

I love the Thunderbeast line. I'll be a customer for life. For my 223 SPR gas guns, I thread them 5/8x24 just so that I can use my 30P-1. Buy with confidence.

I do love the Spectre II also. You will love the Cans you listed and are buying.

After researching this seems to be true for the simplicity of it. ALL seem to work as advertised tough.
