Hello I am new to the form and was not sure where to post this question. I am looking to purchase a thermal scope to put on a BCM Recce ar15 223 / 5.56 to hunt hogs within 50 to 100 yards max. I dont recored hunts or use Wi-Fi but I don't want to skip out on image clarity or resolution. I would prefer to stay close to $2000 but I recognize that this is a challenge when it comes to thermal optics. What are some of your recommendations of thermal scopes that would work best for this situation?

Flir PTS PRO233. No bull shit, just a decent thermal scope. Under 200yds is its sweet spot. I opened bix, mounted and zeroed 1.5 years ago and haven't had any issues. I use mine 2-3 times a week. They can be had for just under $2k. But Flir has discontinued their thermal scope line so there's that to consider. But they say they will still offer warranty work.
At that price point I'd recommend taking a look at the Pulsar RXQ30 I was lucky enough to get one of the first ones off the line and ran it hard filled trailers full of hogs with it. Not fancy, but more than capable for your specified work. If you are not in a stand you will find your average shot at a hog is not that far. 1st shot on a sounder typically under 50 b/f the mad scatter ensues, but had a couple of opportune kills on singles just under 200 so it can get er dun for what ya need. Once you get thermal-itis out of your system and bag some kills it's fun seeing how close you can stalk b/f they get on spook alert I've gone inside 10 yards many times. Have fun! Where ya hunting? I have an ATN White phosphous monocular. It is absolutely fantastic. I run it on a Team Wendy bump helmet. It can also be rifle mounted. Awesome optic.

OP as luck would have it I got a chance to take my 3 year old RXQ out last night and still runs like a champ. Stalked in on a mama and piglet having a bite to eat....got mama in the neck bang flop at ~70 yards and piglet on the run angling towards me at maybe 50
