I've been in school for over 6 months and really haven't had the time and money to go shooting since the only range's around here are about $10-$20 and they are only about 20yd ranges. Well I just found a place I can shoot 140yds maybe up to 160yds and I really had to get myself back to the basics. After about 100rnds I really started to get back into the swing of things though. I was shooting at a 6in 5lb barbell weight and I've been able to group about 1.5in - 2in groups using CCI blazer bulk. It was awesome to get out and do some longer range shooting. Just had some free time so I thought I'd post up. Man I can't wait until I get out of school.
These groups were at 140yds

Don't know where the 5th went

Re: first time out after awhile

I know how you feel. I have been having shoulder problems for a couple years and had surgery about 3 months ago. Since it became obvious that it would be while before I could get out with the centerfire rifles, I bought a new 22 rifle to practice with. I finally got out to shoot it yesterday (first time I shot anything in six months) and I could tell that I was a little rusty.

Now that I have something fun to shoot I will not miss the centerfire as much. Heck, I might not miss it at all. At least not for a while.

i hear you there I don't really miss shooting my .308 when i can really test my limits with a way cheaper round(140yds is not even close to my limits though). What kind of .22 you get?

CZ 455 Varmint Precision Trainer. It shot pretty good. Need to shoot it more and narrow down what ammo it likes. I shot it at 50 and 100 yards. Hope to try 200 next time out.

Better than a lot of guys can do at that range with their deer rifles, bro! Haha. Not sure if that reflects well on you or poorly on the guys I see at the shooting ranges around home.

Either way, good shooting and glad you got back into it.

You're officially a rimfire junkie when you keep your target stands/hangers, some steel and a couple cans of spray bomb in your trunk at all times and consider Blazers a commodity.

BTW, thanks for the idea for some cheap pistol/rimfire steel to shoot at...

Very nice. I thought long and hard between the CZ 455 and the Mark II TR. I chose the tr for the stock and little price difference but would still love to have a CZ 455. Maybe after school I'll get one. post some pics of your groups

Thank you. Distance was verified by my Nikon Range finder

Strangely enough I have found this to be true as well. Infact when I go to the ranges at home I often times end up sighting in other peoples rifles.
I definently have been bit with the rimfire bug and have been itching to get back out with my rifle and I'm glad I did but it took too long.
The weight was something I just found laying outside my apartment and really didn't even know if it was going to work but I guess it did and very well actually.
Oh and I noticed some fisherman drive their truck into the area where I was shooting from and I told them where I was shooting and where I was shooting that way they were aware and one of them gave me a full bulk box of remington ammo. Junk yes I know but I will use it in my old Savage Model 62
