Practiced on the bipod and mags first.

Looks like a solid job for a first timer. But definitely let us know how the duracoat on the can stands up to the heat.

Ok, so yesterday I went shooting twice, once in the morning to the local range, and then later in the pm up the mountain behind the house.
At the range I shot 50 rounds of 7SAUM, and probably 15 .308 through the can, being a hot 7 I dont like to shoot long strings through it. But most of my shooting were load testing in 5 shot groups, so there were ten or so 5 shot strings fired at a rate of probably one every 45-60 seconds, it got pretty hot, and if I remember right the first string I could smell the paint. But after all my shooting, and an additional 30 rnds fired in the afternoon, the paint still looks fine, no discoloration, peeling or otherwise. I have no doubt that If I overdid it, shooting long and hard it would eventually start causing problems, but if I can keep my foot out of it, I think it'll be just fine.

saw this in person a couple days ago.... it looks darn nice in a photo but it looks ridiculous up close and personal. awesome job coldbore.

Im impressed man, I really wanna start doing my own Cera-Kote/Duracoating just for fun now that I have a shop for it. Now to find or build a oven and get all the gear.

Looks great. My brother and I have been using Duracote for a while and really like how tough it is, and it looks awesome.

Nice work.
Durakote is a bake-on finish, said to wear better (i.e. - less) than cerakote. Cetakote is better (it's said) for things like scopes and plastic surfaces that can't be baked, and also for suppressors which will heat-cure the finish with use.
I've used cerakote, contemplating buying one of the durakote spray-kits for a project and I don't do enough spray work to trust my ability to spray fast and accurately with the durakote which has a limited working time, IIRC.
That's an amazing job he did on this gun.

CBM, do you use a cover on your can? I tried using black BBQ paint once and at the end of my trip to the range I took the cover off. My can looked like a chia pet, guess the paint got a little tacky and pulled some fibers off the can cover.
