Re: first try Savage 338

I am scope poor right now ,I shoot my CZ 223 the most and I am tempted to steal the scope off it until I can afford a decent scope for the 338,,but man I am torn about it,,

I should have been born rich instead of good lookin,,LOL

Re: first try Savage 338

I plan to come up 10 MOA and shoot the ladder test at 500 yards from 85-92 grs first day I have good conditions,,I am not concerned with speed,I just want a smooth shooting, accurate load that wont ruin 2.50 $$ worth of brass ever 2-3 reloads,,

with the 89 gr load the brass comes out clean and there is not even any shiny spots on the case head and the primers are still rounded on the edges with not flow back in the firing pin hole,,

as long as it is 2550 it should stay super sonic to a mile,,that is all I want from this load,

Re: first try Savage 338

Yep, you should definitely look into a better long range optic. Finding a good load means nothing if your optic isn't capable...

I am just a poor country plow boy,,it will take a while but I am lookin hard at the Sightron SIII 6-24 with MOA hash marks and MOA adjustments,

I have to ease into stuff like this a piece or two at a time,,

a used 6.5-20 LR/T at a steal would be nice also,,

I almost got the 300$ SWFA straight 16X but put that money back to start a good scope fund,,
