SHASTA COUNTY, Calif. (WKRC) - Jon Kenyon has been fishing in the Sacramento River for over 15 years and has caught plenty of non-fish items.
But nothing could have prepared him for a recent fishing trip, when he reeled in a live pipe bomb.
"My father-in-law had the net ready and we got it up towards the boat," said Kenyon. "We thought it was like an anchor and so we put the net away and got the line up. We got it right into the boat and realized. My father-in-law was like 'It's a bomb. Everyone get to the front of the boat'."
While waiting for police to arrive, a nearby boat got his attention. Another fisherman had made an identical catch.
