What do yall think of running a bushy 10x or SS10x ona 18" AR? Gun will be used for target shooting and hunting occasionally. I know alot of people would say fixed 10x would be too much for hunting on the low end, but it doesnt bother me.

I miss my 10x on my 18"

Sweet rig. What purpose you use it for?

Re: Fixed 10x on SPR?

I like the idea of a fixed 10x on an SPR platform. If you really feel the need for something that's quicker on the draw there are plenty of mini red dots and iron sights with offset mounts on the market. On the other hand, if you are simply wanting to shoot "minute-of-steel", lower power scopes (i.e. 4x, 6x, etc.) can fill that role quite well, and be a little quicker on the draw. For paper shooting, I prefer a 10x, or even better a 16x or 17x.

Re: Fixed 10x on SPR?

I have a 10x on my SPR esque rifle and have no complaints. I am considering adding a piggybacked red dot for faster close range target acquisition but I haven't felt unduly limited as it stands now.

Wow that is one amazing looking rifle!!! I hope to be able to build one like that someday!

Re: Fixed 10x on SPR?

I vote hell yes. I like it so much on mine (see below), when I get a mil/mil 12x SS on my 452 trainer, instead of selling one of the 3200's I might just keep one for the other .22LR and one for the AR.

Mind you, I don't do any hunting, primarily shooting paper, hopefully some steel out further before long.

Nice. What size rings?

Re: Fixed 10x on SPR?

Texan, running SWFA SS Mediums on it. They measure up .5". I used Burris XTR Mediums as well to fit up to a 42mm (a la SWFA SS 3-9 and the like). That is a 40mm, and has room under it for a ladder rail cover, but anything bigger and it barely has room for a BC flip up body. (did fit on the SS 3-9, again, barely)

Thanks bud.

Re: Fixed 10x on SPR?

I shot a doe this past season with the 3200 10x mil/mil at about 60 yards. No problems finding her in the scope. If you encounter moving game close in it might be a problem but I rarely if ever shoot at running game....thought about it on the one buck I saw though.

Re: Fixed 10x on SPR?

For anything except punching paper, I'd prefer to have some lower power available. Every time I've gone with something like a 10x fixed-power scope, it gets frustrating when I want to pop a woodchuck in twilight at 25 yards.

That being said, there is something nice about a simple, rugged fixed-power scope. The Bushnell 3200 10x is a great scope for the money.

Re: Fixed 10x on SPR?

I really liked the Bushnell 3200 10X on my 20" AR. It is a great inexpensive scope. With a really good spotter, I was able to get 2nd and 3rd round hits on a popup range to 700 meters with it.

After a while, I just wanted more. It now has the 4-16 Vortex PST FFP MRAD
