So Cal
Do I need to install the crush washer with a Phantom Flash hider? The flash hider will seat all the way down on the threads and has a caliber sized hole before the blast will enter the flash hiding portion.

Thanks.

Re: Flash Hider/Crush Washer

Phantoms dont have to index, they are not a brake style flash hider. The crush washers are to ensure your brake doesnt spin off over time due to recoil. Same theory as a suppressor on a bolt or semi auto rifle. You have to check them to make sure the recoil is not spinning them off.

I have noticed it more on pistols then anything else, the suppressor comes off in a few shots rather then a few hundred out of a rifle.

Use the washer.

Re: Flash Hider/Crush Washer

If you have the 5C1 model, it will have a "bottom" like an A2 flash hider where there is no slot cut out. You will use the crush washer to make sure that part is correctly aligned. If you have the regular Phantom, use it anyway to make sure you have the proper torque setting. You just don't need to worry about indexing it.

On a side note, the only time you NEVER use a crush washer is if you are mounting the QD suppressor mount version. That one should be mounted with no washer or a peel washer only.

better late than never, but thank you. I'm running it w/o a crush washer for now. if it comes loose one time, i'll put it on and never think about it again.
