flash hider position

i am going to be putting together a 12.5" upper for my SBR, but the problem i have is that the flash hider sits just inside the hand guard.

my question is will it be ok for a small part of the gas port/vent to sit just inside the hand guard? i would assume getting your hand close would be uncomfortable. or should the whole FH be outside of the hand guard, and by how much? i know on my DD MK18 the ass of the FH comes right to the end of the HG.

as seen in the pics, just a cunt hair of the port/vent will be inside the HG. if i thread the FH out to a few threads engaged, then only the rear portion of the FH will be tucked inside the HG.

the last pic is showing the muzzle right at the end og the HG.

i want to go with a triarc barrel, but if i have to, i'll have my 16" barrel that is currently on the upper cut to be just outside of the HG.

Honestly I think you’d be fine. Are you thinking the handguard May erode because of the heat/blast over time? Or more worried about feeling concussion on your hand? If that’s the case don’t choke up so much on the handguard. Maybe put a hand stop at 6oclock as a reminder. Personally I don’t think you’ll feel shit even if your thumb is to the end of the handguard

Just more of a thought than a worry. Not worried at about eroding the HG. Kinda concerned about the gases if anything get near the FH.
